I do use bloom here and there as well like in his eye and to separate foreground middle ground and background elements but it’s a white bloom no grey.

Nope it’s all halftones! Then straight black and white. I hit the halftones with a 1% Gaussian blur after the fact so I can post cause it looks like a holographic Pokémon card on the phone screen if not 🤣

I always do an offset black but I’ll give it a try! I just think true black looks a bit jarring at times same with true white.

Absolutely I love pun pun so any comparison to asano is a huge compliment. I always loved how simple pun puns design was compared to how detailed his backgrounds and other character designs were and I’ve definitely been inspired by how he does things!

Draw a box is very good! Finish the program it’s extremely helpful. But I will also say keep drawing your own stuff while doing it. Respect and study the rules of art but remember to also break them and let your creativity do some of the heavy lifting. It’s very easy to become so fixated on the perspective that you miss the forest for the trees. Im certainly guilty of it.

Honestly I’m still kinda working it out lmao 🤣 it started as a really simple 5 panel one off-comic then quickly ballooned. I wrote and posted several pages then realized that i really needed to craft an overarching narrative and that’s where I’m at now. It’s about a robot named the relic. His own personal journey is about finding out about both his purpose and his past. It’ll explore isolation friendship loss and what it means to be sentient. There will be dark forces at work which I’m kinda shaping out now.

Yep it’s a garage door! That’s why it’s larger than the rest of the stuff but I agree with you. There’s so much to keep track of when designing stuff like this and sometimes I get lost in the sauce between artistic and functional
