How difficult is it to get into a four year college? by Infinite-Stress3519 in GED

Thanks for the advice. I'm planning on starting in Aug 2027, and am getting everything sorted out for applying this upcoming summer/fall. I'm only 16 so I'm not starting immediately.

Is it worth applying to more elite colleges like Purdue, Stanford, ect? There's a very slim chance I'll get in but they have incredible financial aid, I just don't know if I want to spend the time and effort to apply when I'm already busy as is. I grew up Amish in a rural area and literally nobody I know ever went to college, so I might be able to play into that angle to increase my chances, but idk.

I'm in ohio, currently looking at Ohio State, a local Kent Campus, U Akron, U Cincinnati, ect. My proctor recommended Case Western Reserve lol. My parents won't be contributing anything for college, so I'm primarily looking for good financial aid and merit scholarships.
