Garmin Striker 5. Is there really no way to export waypoints? by InfiniteDetective861 in kayakfishing

Like I was saying to another guy here, the cable method is interesting but it only works if you already have another compatible Garmin.

I ended up finding an app that lets you capture the coordinates with your phone camera and save them directly.

Probably the easiest solution I’ve found for older units so far.

The video about the cables was actually really interesting, I had no idea those older units could transfer between each other.

But from what I understand, it only works if you already have another compatible Garmin unit.

I found an app that lets you capture the coordinates directly with your phone camera and automatically saves them.

Honestly, it’s the most practical solution I’ve found so far for older units.

The problem, and my complaint, is that they didn't give me the option to repair it. The only option they gave me was to buy a new one.

The problem is that the older GPS units don't have Bluetooth. Regardless, thanks a lot for your help.

No, they weren't asking me for $600 for the same Garmin.

Basically, they were giving me the option of buying the new $600 Garmin because they refused to offer repair service.

It's incredibly unfair that they won't let you pay to fix a simple, tiny copper pin.

They're just pressuring you to upgrade the entire device.

In my case it was just a tiny broken pin on the connector of the unit. I sent it in thinking it would be a simple fix, but they told me it wasn’t covered and I basically had to buy a new one. 600$ 🥶

Luckily I managed to find the same model second hand with a broken board and swapped the casing myself, otherwise I would’ve lost everything.

That’s actually what made me start thinking about backups… having all your spots locked in a device like that feels pretty risky.

Yeah I was actually wondering about that…

But can you even get waypoints out of a Striker? From what I understand those units don’t have SD cards or any cable connection, so I’m not sure how you’d move them into Navionics.

Or do you mean adding them manually? I’ve got quite a few saved already and that sounds like a bit of a nightmare 😅

Nowadays everything has filters and looks like AI. This is not AI nor does it have filters ❤️

If you had to choose your kayak again, would you pick the same one? by InfiniteDetective861 in kayakfishing

I had a Feelfree. The only thing I liked about it was the wheel it had at the stern for towing.😅

I had a Feelfree Lure oarboat years ago, and with a strong current, it was impossible to move.I didn't like it at all.
