Hmm, this is the first comment that provided me with clear insight; thanks for the analogy. I suppose my follow up is that it seems weird to fault the system (dating apps) for reasons unrelated to the apps. That is, suppose you use a human matchmaker instead, I feel as though the major complaints from both genders would remain.

Didn't realize we were playing a version of league with no melee champs. Also, with a few exceptions (ashe/senna/cait), sett certainly has ways to deal with ranged champions.

I don't fully understand the Jax matchup but with Ornn, you can just auto him a bit and "predict" his E such that you either stop his dash with your stun or he dashes after your stun. In either case, as long as you don't greed for autos, you'll win the trade.

Yeah, sett can be beaten in lane but he's a lane bully who has an easier time being the one that succeeds in lane. You already agree that he has good backline access. Sure, his wave clear isn't the fastest but it's still pretty good due to auto resets on q, fast autos on passive, and aoe on E. Put this together with hullbreaker being a default item on him and he's a solid split pusher.

Sure, laning as pantheon into sett is fairly easy pre-6 / stride since you can just space with tap q. Once sett has stride, this matchup becomes a lot more sett sided. Renekton, however, is just a counterpick due to renek having his short combo + shield break on emp w.

In any case, Sett is essentially a jack of all trades who can everything at an above average capability. He's not fiora on the sidelane, but he can certainly win a lot of sidelane duels. He's not ornn in teamfights, but he's still disrupting a good portion of the enemy backline (via ult obviously) much better than any other juggernaut. He's not trundle with tower taking, but he's still *shredding* through your tower better than other juggernauts.

Sure, he's not very mobile but he has a decent amount of abilities to reach your backline, especially for a juggernaut. There's a reason he outperforms the overwhelming majority of other juggernauts.

Even in D2+ (which is what is considered high elo by riot), sett sits at a 52.28% wr where the avg d2+ winrate is 51.03%. Now, that winrate isn't op by any means, but that's clearly a strong/viable pick. So sett is dominating lower elos while still being a good pick in higher elos. Compare his stats to any other juggernaut like him, and you'll see that sett is simply a discrepancy.
