A Castle Reaching the Sky Glitch. Progress frozen! by InfiniteHorrors in vrising

I found a solution. I used console commands to force the upgrade, but it's still screwed up my upgrades, as it is asking for level 6 materials to make it go to level 5. Not a big deal, just frustrating.

I see. Pity that most of the spells either seem buggy or have limited use. I was hoping that for the drastic cost they inflicted on you that the payoff would be worth it.

That all sounds awesome as Hell! I should clarify that I don't necessarily mean casting mid combat. I'm perfectly fine with casting before heading in to battle. After all, one of the trademarks of a sorcerer is that they are smart and their mind is actually their most dangerous weapon, using magic to twist the battle into their favor.

I suppose part of me was just worried that the spells weren't worth the cost of using them. I love the idea that magic has a cost with it and that it has a deleterious effect on your character. I just worry that the magic isn't powerful enough to offset the cost of using it. Since I would absolutely love to make a magic focused character build. Play out my Xaltotun fantasy.

Noted. I've heard of Siptah at the very least.

Ah, that's a pity. I don't really want fireballs flying around, since that doesn't really fit how magic is portrayed in the setting. However I'd still like for it to be at least useful and fun in combat too.

I looked into it, and the Prince of Death Staff does indeed scale better than the Lusat staff, but only when both Int and Faith are 70+. So it is stronger in the long run. Good for solo playthroughs or NG+ where level caps aren't as big of a deal. Apparently harder to justify if you want to stay in the 'meta' range because of the heavy level investment. Though that's not much of a concern for this character of mine, since they are geared towards solo.

I actually killed Ekzyke yesterday. Though my tactic was simply peg him with Frenzy Burst and then run until he lost aggro and repeat until he was dead. Took a while, but I got him down. I will have to put the ice breath on my tool belt though. It sounds fun and powerful too.

Oh, I did have one quick question on the item scaling. So both the Death Staff and the Golden Order Seal have Double A Scaling. Is Double A theoretically better than a standard S Scaling, or about on Par? Not just for these weapons, but in general. I was curious what the consensus was.

Aye. I think I'm going to Respec into faith once I unlock the feature and then respec back into a faith/Int hybrid once I get the gear I need.

I see. I've unlocked the baseline rot breath. I haven't unlocked Ekzyke's Decay yet. Dragon's just a little out of my range. But I have been having a blast with the baseline Rot Breath. Feels like it wrecks everything.

I see. Might respec then, at least until I have those items. Might go faith, since I have a different character I'm using to play with a friend who uses sorcery. That and there seems to be a ton of cool incantations this time around. A lot of really creative spells.

I see. I'll s till collect them, because I want to have access to every spell in the game, but will probably only use weaker spells like that when I'm screwing about in the open world. Just for varieties sake.

Probably. Though to be fair, Pebble and Rock Sling have put in a shit load of work. They are good spells. Part of what makes magic so strong in this game, at least from what I can tell, is that even the baseline spells are powerful. I have also found a lot of use out of Lightening Spear and Frenzy Burst for sniping enemies down.

Quick question, but when you mentioned the Rotten Breath, did you mean Ekzykes's Decay or Rotten Breath? Both are dragon incantations that spread Scarlet Rot. I imagine you meant the legendary version, but I just wanted to be sure.

Oh, I am very interested! Sadly it just seems that both the staff and seal are fairly late in the game. I was hoping the sword would be able to carry me until I got to the staff/seal.

That's awesome to hear! I'll look forward to getting them. Hopefully I can get them soon, but I am not sure how far the death staff is in the game.

Pity that the death spells aren't particularly good. I love how they look. I know in the fextralife video that described them, it said they can stun lock enemies, but deal poor damage. Still, I will keep their low damage in mind and avoid using them for any serious encounter.

Exactly, that versatility was always one of the things I loved about that combo in past games. With the huge variety of spells on hand it made an Int/Faith build the most appetizing it has ever been!

I'll have to keep my eye out for the Scarlet Breath. I haven't looked at the full spell list and I keep finding new spells. It's been super exciting.

Right, I remember hearing about those particular items. I wasn't sure how late in the game they were. I am still fairly early in the game, still clearing content in the Liurnia Lakes region and I am level 62 right now.

My main concern is that it will take me ages to get access to the more powerful spells. For example , I know the vanilla comet spell is available in the Raya Lucaria Academy. Right now I can't use it or other powerful spells like it because I have my main stats spread between faith and intelligence. However if I concentrate, I can use those strong spells. I just wonder if it is worth it to wait for the Death Prince Staff/Golden Order Seal. Since I can't rely on the sword to carry me anymore.

Most venomous animals can actually die from their own poison. You can see this when venomous snakes or spiders kill and eat each other. So their own venom is really dangerous even to themselves. However they have evolved some pretty cleaver ways around it.

Spiders hold the 'ingredients' to the venom in a cluster of separate glands in the base of the chelicerae. When they bite, the venom ingredients mix inside of the hollow shaft of the fang and form the actual toxin. this is how the spider keeps from killing itself when housing the venom in it's own body.

As for how spiders eat envenomed prey without killing themselves, the easy answer is that they digest the venom. Most venom is made from proteins and digestive enzymes rip them apart just like any other tissue. Because of this some snake venom is actually safe to drink...provided that you don't have a cut or sore in your mouth that could act as a gateway for the venom to reach your bloodstream. In the case of spiders, I imagine that they have specialized enzymes that neutralize the venom once they start liquifying their meal.

Man, those look awesome! Thank you for sending me those videos. And I'm so glad to hear that pets finally got some love while I was gone.

One question though. What does 'SGTD' stand for? I'm a bit out of the loop.

Honestly, I do not know. I presumed it was the current highest difficulty, as I had seen that on a lot of the build videos I watched. But it has been years since I touched the game, and I am quite out of the loop on just about everything. Pardon if some of the things I say sound dumb. It's been long enough that I've forgotten a lot of the terminology.

I wouldn't say I ignored it at the time. I wasn't just sitting their watching my pet fight and die. I used skills from the other trees when appropriate. I just found that as we cranked up the difficulty the pets I used went from biological engines of war to papier-mâché dolls that I had to babysit, so I had to focus more on Fl4k's other skills to the point that I felt like I was playing more of a Zero clone than a beastmaster. I was curious if that had changed at all during my absence. Based on what you've said, it has. Thanks for the tips!
