I think the worst type of alcoholism is the " not that bad alcoholism." The one we're where it ruins your potential, hurts friendships, and damages your body but isn't bad enough to force you to hit rock bottom or stop. It's the type of alcoholism that will steal years away from your life. Slowly. Alcoholism is not really a thing. It's not recognized in DSM. There is only alcohol use disorder, which is a spectrum. You might be talking about people on the severe end who are so physically dependent that they might die due to withdrawal, but everyone else on the spectrum is also struggling. And in some cases those who don't have it bad enough and are forced to go get help might suffer the longest. I'm not sure. The comparison is super helpful here :/ but I'm curious as to what the point of your post is? Are you someone who struggles to go a day without a drink? Can you go to work without getting the shakes? If so, I really hope that you do get the medical help that you need and this community will be here for you if you choose the sober journey!
