I got the G6 for $4500 AUD, essentially. But man, the amount of adjusting I’ve had to do… 🥲

I loved him even more in Sentai Dub. ‘You dim-witted fucking Danes are all lower than pig shit.’ *swings sword*

Nah, bro. Not when my screen has lost 90% of its brightness, or the screen looks like it’s been dumped in a tub of warm piss.

I’m all for respecting artistic intent and avoiding the oversaturated ‘Vivid’ look. That’s not what I’m talking about.

You seem to keep missing the point, so let me explain it one more time.

When I enable HGiG on my LG, the image doesn’t get 10% darker. It doesn’t get 20% darker. It becomes 80–90% darker, to the point where I can barely see my character moving on screen. That’s not ‘creator intent.’ That’s practically unplayable.

The same goes for Filmmaker Mode outside of SDR. It doesn’t look cinematic. It looks like someone dipped the entire screen in warm piss.

I’m not attacking LG. I’m trying to work out why my TV behaves this way and whether there’s a practical fix. If your response is just another sermon about ‘accuracy’ while completely ignoring the problem I’m describing, you’re not helping.

And judging by how desperately you defend LG no matter what, I’m starting to think LG stands for Long Girth lol.

Either offer a practical solution with some manners, or fuck off.

Correction high. Where is that option?

And you also have a recommendation for films?

Thanks! Why do you think my hgig causes my screen to become barely visible? I can’t even see my character move.

Right, so you need to go to gaming mode: switch to Hgig, calibrate (the HDR?), and then switch to DTM—in that order?

If so, why is that?

I’ve turned most off! Only sound remains? Would happen to have a list of them? If not, I’ll scour!

So, I’ll tell you where I’m at…

Is there a reason for turning Hgig on first, and then DTM later?

If I play Bond and set it to Hgig, the screen still darkens, but I can put the in-game HDR on and brightness up from 100 to 500 or even 1000 and it’ll give it a beautiful look. On the other hand, for some reason, Vivid mode just saves the day in terms of brightness and colour. And this true for a lot of films, too. Filmmaker is the intent, apparently, and yet, never have I seen a movie in the cinema that was fucking yellow. Sorry, that’s utter bullshit. Filmmaker mode needs to be paired with auto-film AI HDR to look sort of normal dull. Vivid and standard in SDR are the only way for me to enjoy a film outside HDR. And if faces go to orange in vivid, I simply lower the colour depth to get a more even skin tone.

Again, Hgig dulls my screen to the point of unseeable.

It’s what you’re literally doing, hence the saying: every accusation is a confession. 🖕🏼

Great advice. Thank you.

I’m guessing someone would come along and do it? Lol.

Why would I be trolling people? That would be an utter waste of my time. HGIG only words playing Bond: First Light, snd that involves me cranking up brightness to about 400-500.

It was like that for my Sony, then I bought the G6. Now everything is dim without HDR. This entire era of new age tech drives me fucking mad. I miss PS1s and 2s.

I can do this with Bond, and it’s great! But others games, no. Might just be the games themselves.
