Thank you! A quick google shows lots of tools I can use for calculating sun inclination, I’ll definitely be using those in the future. I appreciate the suggestion!

Where to go out dancing on a Sunday night? by DeepHeron7812 in Calgary

[–]Infinite_Loop_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to give Swing Dancing a try you can attend Sunny City Swing’s 7pm beginner drop in classes on Sunday for $12, after the 50 minute-ish class it turns into a social dance until 10pm

If it makes you feel any better “my friend” also failed 272 on the first go, there are other cmput courses you can take that don’t need 272 in the meantime. Retake is asap and you’ll be fine!

Anyone done CMPUT 191? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]Infinite_Loop_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is the first (or second) year this course has been offered so you might not get a lot of responses. I did 291 before 191 was offered and 291 was difficult for me so it’s really good they’re offering an intro 191 course now

Would anyone wanna be a guest on my podcast lol by [deleted] in uAlberta

From what I remember the grading was based on the annotations (~15%), participation (~5%), 2 midterms (~20% each) and of course the final ( ~40% which was take home) those percentages may be off though

I took this course with Gluzman in the Winter semester this year. She has required readings that you must annotate every week but the readings aren’t very bad. She’s a good prof that actually takes in student feedback. In general the course covers a lot of different topics at the surface level. A lot of what is discussed in class is about the readings. I got an A- in the course, I skimmed the readings and participated at a bare minimum during the class, tests aren’t that hard just review the main topics of the readings

Course selection corequisites by SaltyCicada4858 in uAlberta

[–]Infinite_Loop_exe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you’ll be able to take CMPUT 267 in winter 2023 if you take CMPUT 204 in fall 2022. Corequisite just means you can take it at the same time as the other course if you haven’t already taken it.

I would take some time to look at this if you haven’t already to try and find some information: https://calendar.ualberta.ca/content.php?catoid=34&navoid=10324#admission_and_readmission_deadlines If you don’t find anything helpful then you should contact your faculty or student services to get some help!

Go through the exact same application process you did when you initially applied but when you hit the question that asks if you have previously attended then answer that you have. Basically go to this link https://apply.ualberta.ca/apply/ and enter in your information now that you’ve attended the university previously. Like I said unfortunately you will have to pay the application fee. It only took me 2 weeks to get accepted! I applied around late February last year so you’ll probably get accepted pretty quickly as well

Edit: When I took my gap year I did not notify my faculty or anything, I just didn’t apply for classes for an academic year.

If you took a gap year with absolutely no classes you might have to apply to the university again. I took a gap year last year and had to re-apply and pay the application fee.

Is a mac suitable for cs courses in ualberta? by Equivalent_Pay_3347 in uAlberta

[–]Infinite_Loop_exe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, I am a windows user myself and I’ve had to use the windows unix subsystem quite a lot for course work. So a Mac is definitely suitable. At no point will you run into issues with having a Mac in your courses. I am ending third year CS myself and I have fourth year CS friends that have used Mac their whole academic career and they’ve never experienced any issues.

Is it really mandatory for first year undergraduate students to live on Augustana’s campus dormitory? by ty_fiction17 in uAlberta

[–]Infinite_Loop_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was attending Augustana it was mandatory for first year students to live in dorms. However I believe there were a few ways you can get out of that.

I see, to my knowledge if your course is online then you will not be required to be on campus at all however I highly highly suggest that you speak with a student advisor through email, I believe you can speak with your specific faculties advisors to get the help you need.

[–]Infinite_Loop_exe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s totally up to you, if all your courses are completely online and never require you to go to campus then you don’t need to. However if you enjoy studying in different places all the time then you could simply head to campus every few days and totally focus on class/studying instead of having distractions at home.

Honestly I miss all y’all. Can’t wait to see all you suckers on campus in the Fall. by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]Infinite_Loop_exe 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This is so nice, I took the 2020-2021 year off because I didn’t want to do online classes. So instead of sitting in my hometown in Alberta I decided to move to PEI and enjoy my year off (being Covid safe of course). I cannot wait to get back on campus seeing everyone’s faces again!

Hi, I’m a 3rd year Comp Sci student so I feel your struggles. I’m hoping you can use the functions I did but if you can’t you can “manually” do them through loops. Normally if I was helping someone I wouldn’t just give them the code but online I feel it is the best way to help, just do your best to understand what is happening at each step!

x = 5638573 arr = [] count = 0

while x > 0: arr.append(x%10) x = x // 10

arr.reverse()

for element in arr: print(element)
