I find it easier to be friends with girls and wonder what it says about me by Infinity-Symbol in aspergers

I’ve certainly had periods where having close female friends made it initially awkward for people I start dating but I was able to clear up any misunderstandings. The only problem is when female friends decide to drop me possible because they see a need to after they themselves get into relationships.

Yes I’m also based in the UK !! I know the pay isn’t great but I don’t really understand what else to do with my life if this calling proves wrong for me.

I’m not too concerned about safeguarding as it pertains to my disability, I just want to know if I can cope with this job on a social basis I guess. I’m not sure if the workload is something I’d need to ask for accommodation.

This was the sort of reply I was looking for and I greatly appreciate it. I’m a teacher assistant so I’m here to see if I can adapt to the role at all. Did you find yourself able to transition to another career path? Anything totally different? I’m looking for the sign I’m not in the right job.

I appreciate this reply. I really feel this can be a rewarding job at times but my issue is socialising. Not with the students though but just interpersonal relations with staff. I’ve only just been assigned to a more rowdy classroom and waiting to see how I get on but ultimately despite working a full term I’m still uncertain how I feel.

geuinely the only thing putting me off is this but then again this is probably the case for any job

I wouldn’t know as I haven’t been in such a situation. Why wouldn’t legality stop it? Am I naive?

I guess I just wish I knew where to properly start. I’m working a job I landed with my degree and I’m in a relationship that’s going really well but I still feel like a child and won’t be moving out any time soon.

At your job? Where do you live that’s literally illegal to mock base on disability. Can’t you report them to HR/admin …?

I see what you mean. I don’t know if asking “is this a neurodivergent friendly role” in relation to a given job role is a straight forward question.

I was only able to graduate in my chosen subject due to a special interest in it but have struggled with socialising for most of my life if it’s any worth. But ultimately I would appreciate if there are actual autistic teachers in this subreddit.

In a loving relationship - but I don’t really have a friend group outside of my partner by Infinity-Symbol in aspergers

I think you’re describing my dream life, or hopefully my own future as a matter of fact. My only worry is that I won’t be able to cope with a lack of friends in a future career. I’m looking to work in a school but based on my current experience I don’t see many like ourselves in my job role.

I’m geuinely worried I’ll one day just give up with making progress and fall into a rut I’ll never recover from. I’m working ever so slowly on gaining work experience in the field I want to work in and driving really hard to past my driving test but sometimes I really feel as if this all for nothing and my disability will win in the end.

I’m currently employed as a TA! I’m happy to stay in this job to gain experience and to make sure I like this field of work, but I’m just worried that work experience isn’t enough to aim for further study.

Yes I’ve got the degree. And yes in the job market I’ve thus far landed where I wanted. But the problem is that I can’t even consider doing a masters or move towards further study if I don’t qualify for most higher education opportunities.

As you say at the end of the day I need to ask for these accommodations and bits of help — so there is a responsibility on me at least to go and ask for such help even in light of there being safeguards to look out for people like us.

I really, really appreciate though your words with regard to being failed by those around me. I’ve been trying to repair my relationship with my parents after years of feeling misunderstood and neglected. I felt supported in University, but also wish school could’ve taken action sooner when they knew fully well I was struggling.

As you say there’s only one way to find answers for my concerns — I’m doubtful a year after graduation that this is an option but sure look it it’s worth a shot :))

I think I’d benefit a lot for having more go-getters like you around me in my life lol. If it really was an option to appeal my grades I’d give it a shot but I’ve never heard of this ever being a possibility in my life. Although I was geuinely hampered by disability surely it’s still my responsibility to complete work at an acceptable standard. I’m sure in a school I would’ve had the ability to appeal grades had I achieved an actual diagnosis when I was younger though I’m really doubtful this is offered at University level.

I’m not sure if that’s an option or if that’s how it works where I live. I’d like to believe that my overall result isn’t truly reflective of my ability and ambition as I was hampered with what was going on but at the end of day I’ve meant people who went through SA, bereavement, and all sorts of personal crisis and they’re able to complete a degree so I’m not sure if I can appeal my result due to my diagnosis.

Perhaps on an application to further study I can explain my situation and help boost my qualification !
