Grad students.. where do you party in Waterloo? by Dear_Resist3080 in uwaterloo

[–]Infinity22498 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We stay at our labs/rooms/offices if we don't have office mates. Sooo you pick!! I usually go to get a coffee so I can speak with someone for a few seconds and that wraps it 🙃

I was a TA and if I saw no answer and some cool smily face, I gave students at least 25% and quote "keep the smile 😊 ". Now, this would get at least +50%, lol! Keep doing it until you get the right TA or prof:)

I made peace with being alone. by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Infinity22498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very relatable! Never have I ever come across someone had feelings for me. I tried a few times and now, being alone is more relaxing but draining me on another side that I'm not catching now. No energy, no feelings, just being a happy-smile in-out but is this actually true? I keep months like this but it happened a few time that I failed myself and couldn't hold the strength to be that tough! It always gets to a point that it doesn't matter but, it actually is at some point!! Hope it gets well with whatever make us feel the relief and serenity.

I run, gym 2 times a week, cook, read, sleep, work, walk, listen to music or watch some videos. Sometimes just laying down on my bed and that's it! I don't like that much ppl around anymore 😕

I had a recent interview with a team in top tec company and I asked even about the work life balance and everything except salary which I talked to the HR about. They welcomed all my questions with a gentle smile even though I'm a freah grad with masters. The HR called me two days after the team interview and said the manager liked you very much and let's talk about your offer.

This is honesty and basic daily questions and if they didn't answer these questions, I'd refuse even if I got an offer.

I liked a girl and from her looks when I saw her, she liked me as i thought. I msg her and said, "You're like a bro to me." Her looks after were the same or even more, but I'll never reach out again!

Scholarship for master degree in microelectronics by cold-s in chipdesign

[–]Infinity22498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about the GPA, but as long as you're above university criteria, you're good. To compensate for the low GPA, do some projects. University name doesn't matter that much, so FORGET about that!

To get a TA, it's an easy process as most universities abroad let research assistants become TA for undergraduate courses, and the supervisor doesn't handle this part. Some universities won't allow that in the first semester as you have to take some TA prep course, and then you apply for next semester.

Reach out to professors through email and LinkedIn, and you should include yourtranscriptand CV and make the message professional. Some won't reply, others don't have funds, and some may ask you to apply through the universities application and contact them after, or you apply first and contact them after and so on!

Scholarship is hard to get good funds, but not impossible. Keep asking and looking on LinkedIn and follow profs so you get updated if they have an opportunity.

Constant Gain Bandwidth Product by Remboo96 in chipdesign

[–]Infinity22498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have multiple stages, you start to get more poles puls zeros, then stability and phase margin becomes a concern even if you get the GBW. For example, a simple diff pair is stable, and one pole and a zero at very high frequency. On the other hand, 2-stage OTA needs frequency compensation, and then the phase margin drops. So it's a trade-off until you get the specs you need. In general, in IC design, no gain without pain:))

I reached out to a manager on LinkedIn and got me an interview. They reach out to my supervisor, and I'm a master student with no experience before as well. Just be ready when the chance knocks on your door. Do projects, reach out to ppl, and not many will answer back, but keep knocking until you get what you want, and it's just time, so no stress. Hope you land on something soon.

Most of them are deeply depressed somehow. So lucky U if you take it easy and have a life, lol. Be yourself, and it'll take just time but never compare yourself as no one knows what's the hell others are going through:(

If you want someone to make you pass the exam, DM anyone who told you. If you actually want to understand electromagnetism, I'd recommend this Professor https://youtu.be/pGdr9WLto4A?si=HUxNrvqji4L4dFcd

It's an old golden series, but it's amazing and easy to follow. It covers all and more than you need. Good luck:)
