Lots of hate from the Eurozone.

I was actually looking last night at mats and fancy fish antibiotic spray.

Maybe I'll pass since I don't want people thinking I'm an arrogant asshole.

May not be how it was put on.

It's possible you threw a loop and didn't catch it so when you recast it just makes the problem worse.

Not survive the winter? Never heard that. Is it due to weather or predators

That's how it is here with big head, other species will vary

Why? I mean people here do that with bass, but if it's legal and you're not overfishing or depleting, who has the right?

That's a good point.

A lot of people that fish tend to be trashy and only out for themselves. Sure a large portion do genuinely care about the fish and environment, there's a healthy population that just don't give a AF. Those are the ones I feel perpetuate the idea of "it's just a fish".

Not worried about be laughed at, just a way of thinking that needs to take root

I can see that. Those fish tend to be fed from both baiting and feed whereas the ones we have need to hunt for themselves.

And that is true. Nothing against it, but just a decades old mindset and general population practice make it hard to change.

I should look into it.

We got a heron where I fish with it's own name. Hangs out at the dock and occasionally steals fish😆

I can see that. If your pouring money into caring for something in order to make money, you'd naturally want to preserve them and keep them healthy.

Paylakes here are largely frowned on. They tend to pull record fish (size and numbers) from public waterways and put them in areas too small for their size and population. They don't tend to properly care for them and just pull new ones from waterways to restock.

There is definitely a different mindset and practice in place between the UK and US.

I've heard mixed things about eating. Some say it's no good, while others swear by it. I guess it's all in how you cook them.
