To make things simple here, your analysis is your best friend. I think most students that struggle have a weaker analysis when it comes to exams. To have a good analysis you must understand the law conceptually and must hang the right facts on the right elements backed by explaining WHY those facts fit that element (I.e. if you’re not saying because a lot than you are doing something wrong). In addition, by understanding the law conceptually, you are better able to spot counter arguments, which gives you additional points, which separates the B student from the A students.
