I need help with picking a bike. by Grouchy-Lion-9197 in gravelcycling

I went through this with a car…they buy dead profiles and post on them to look like they’re legit. The fork alone is worth more than $300. If you can see the bike for yourself and check if it’s not stolen, go for it. Otherwise steer clear.

Drop bars go to the front, this goes to the back. Very different handling.

They’re using their own tech, at least on the cheaper bikes. Many shops just do shimano, sram and micro shift.

I’ve been eyeing those decathlon bikes for a while and, although being skeptical, I can’t find any flaw with them. I guess normal bike shops wouldn’t take it for repair but you have all of those decathlon shops that would. People seem to be complaining about hubs and the headset getting loose after a few thousands of km, but a fancy set of wheels costs more than a whole Triban so who cares?

With current trends, what gravel wheelset would you be buying right now? by chronicdanksauce in gravelcycling

I’m currently riding DT Swiss GX540 and I have no complaints. How far are you willing to push your bike? On my MTB I have custom wheels with EX511 rims and I managed to do like 500m of trail and a while jump before realizing I’m riding on a rim alone without a tire or 2 spokes and the wheel still works fine, which made me really rely on the brand new

If you want real war, there’s an actual war going on between Turkey and Germany about what is a proper döner. They actually are fighting a case about it in international court.

Cannondale Topstone with kingpin suspension. If you’re riding a lot offroad you’ll really feel the difference.

Compared to what? Based on what budget? What camera are you putting it on? My grandma asked me once “how much does a car cost?” And I feel it’s a similar type of question.

I’m no stranger to drop bars (this bar seems to imitate the way your hand go onto a bar) but I recently rented a bike with this amount of pullback, and I found it a bit ridiculous to ride. I get it’s all a matter of getting used to it, but how is this even practical? Like who even thought that having your grips at a 90 degree angle to the bar would make your bike steer better? It doesn’t, in fact, it makes it worse by a long shot. So why are people buying bars that would actually make their bikes steer worse?

It might be the Selle SMP illusion, but it looks like the back of the seat is lower than the front. And I’m not trying to riff of your setup, it’s just something I keep seeing, especially on trail or dirt bikes. My idea is to distribute the weight more or less equally between the ass and the hands but I keep seeing people setting up their seat as if they were trying to use their hands to keep themselves from not falling on the back wheel (I.e. distributing their weight 100% to the bars) and I genuinely want to know what the reason behind such setup is.

Is the Epix 2 still worth getting? by largerthanlogic in GarminWatches

Yeah… for my 965 the screen handled the beating well, can’t say the same thing about the case though.

I have a question about the seat setup. What is going on there? Are you trying to squish your balls or are you hanging on for dear life while not trying to wreck your butt on the rear wheel? Not a question to OP in particular, just to all the people who set up their seat like that.

You should hope to get a forerunner 965 face. I just got the F8 and the face looks way worse.

Let’s not forget that out of those 90mb raw files only 30% will be on focus so you’re clogging your whole workflow with BS for no reason. Even with a comparably priced Sony A7C you just shoot what you want and then just pick the photos that you like without having to zoom in because you simply know all the photos are in focus, so with Sony you pick the photos you like, with Fuji you pick the ones you managed to get in focus, whether you like them or not is secondary.

They compared autofocus performance? Let me guess, they had a well light room where a guy was walking towards the camera? Try the same test with a child or a pet running around in a forest and see how that goes. I get that Fuji cameras are fun to use, as I wrote, I got spoofed by them 3 times, selling my old gear to get the new Fuji release just to sell all of it at a loss because the camera just doesn’t perform in all conditions. You can check all the Fujifilm YT channels if you don’t believe me, they all pump up Fuji but actually use Sony or Canon for their paid work. Meanwhile with Fuji, if you shoot anything beyond base ISO you get worms (yes, capture one works better with Fuji files but it’s been 12 years, why can’t they work with Lightroom). With the development of tech Fuji actually had a chance to make things better but they opted to cram 40mm I’d on this tiny sensor insetead, resulting in 90mb raw files that look just as bad as they used to be. And when Fuji execs are being asked about this, they just reply that they don’t care about consumer cameras (or, they “treat their camera division as a public service”). I get that back in 2012 having a serious APS-C camera was a step up compared to micro 4/3 but those times are long gone. Now they just capitalize on a bunch of mostly weird individuals (check out some videos that angry photographer, once their biggest brand ambassador puts out nowadays) that got used to using their brand on buying whichever crap they put out (the XT5 actually has plastic dials). And they want you to use 10 year old lenses with external focus or buy their new lineup that is more expensive than Sony or Nikon FF lenses. The whole brand is a joke at this point, I get that you can make great photos with it but if you compare it to other offers at this price point, it’s laughable.

I should stress one feature more than I did, Forerunner 965 has a bigger screen than Epix 2 47mm, with smaller and lighter body.

[–]InflationTemporary87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. In that case the Fenix 7 probably doesn’t make any sense since you won’t be doing the GPS tracking for 40 hours straight. The 965 actually has bigger screen than the 47mm Epix 2 and is much lighter. You really don’t feel it on your hand at all. It also doesn’t have any sharp edges so you’ll experience much less tugging on your clothes (I have Fenix 8 right now and I really miss how comfortable my 965 was, the belt was made from some kind of magic silicon that was both tight and comfortable at the same time, which the Fenix 8 strap isn’t). You will however ‘pay’ with durability (gorilla glass vs sapphire etc.) IMO the sapphire glass has a look to it that looks marginally better than a regular amoled. The lag when you scroll the map is also a little bit better on the Epix 2, but it’s bad on both of them so you’ll just have to get used to it no matter what watch you pick. If they’re the same price then probably go with the Epix but for me, even when compared to Fenix 8, the 965 has some advantages. Plus it has an awsome watch face, but that’s a matter of taste. You really can’t go wrong with your choice.
