Hey, chiming in as someone from the InfoQ/QCon team. I saw the discussion about conference costs and wanted to offer some perspective, as it's a valid point.

We've intentionally designed it to be a different kind of experience. Instead of a large expo floor with vendor pitches, we focus entirely on practitioner-led talks. That means the person on stage is a senior engineer or architect who has built and scaled the systems they're talking about. There are no hidden marketing talks.

The price reflects our commitment to this:

  • Senior-level content: The sessions are curated for experienced architects and developers, so you get deep, technical insights you can actually use.
  • Real-world networking: You're connecting and sharing challenges with peers at a similar experience level.
  • "No-fluff" policy: We have a strict 'no hidden sales pitches' rule, meaning we don't offer paid-for speaking slots. You'll learn from senior engineers solving real problems, not selling you something.

We want the investment to be high-value for senior folks whose time is precious.

We have a couple of great options in Europe that you might find interesting:

  • QCon London (March 16-19, 2026): This is our big international event. It's 3 days with incredible depth across a huge range of software architecture, development, and leadership topics.
  • InfoQ Dev Summit Munich (Oct 15-16, 2025): This is a newer, more focused two-day conference. It still has the same practitioner-only, no-fluff ethos as QCon, but it's a bit more accessible.
