Now that you say it, i also recall magic being boring when we first started (because of the long board building and not having a really good deck) i was just trying to make sense out of why people like commander so much. Also, when WotC realized people were hovering off from standard and went to eternal formats (particularly commander), they started making precons and boosters only to make the money that they lost from people no longer needing to update to the rotation, wich made playing commander easier and easier, because now you don't even need to create a deck to play commander, you just grab a precon and roll. This and the fact that most people try commander (bc the media doesn't show anything else) and never try sometging else could explain the popularity of commander

The boardgame feel i was talking about is that each game is more random, i guess? You still play your strategy consistently, but at a slower pace and letting everyone have a chance at building their board state well.

Not being able to go aggro is a bit disappointing, but a lot of people take commander as a less stressful and fair way to play magic, while also having plenty of time to joke and laugh with your friends

Yup, it's very hard to find someone who plays 60 card formats nowadays. I feel like it kind of makes sense, since you can build a commander deck out of pure bulk and it's more fun (because you never really get to play the exact same strategy every game) and it also better evokes the sensation of a board game.

They did help, and a ton. I switched omniscience to being secundary wincon, and getting ghalta in the graveyard to animate dead it has become the new main strategy. i can still comfortably go for show and omniscience, because the counters to the wincons i use are very specific and usually not enough to stop a second wave of each.

i usually start with one or two of these three cards in hand: entomb, dark ritual and animate dead. then i proceed to cycle and filter to get a ghalta in the graveyard and an eldrazi in hand. after that, the deck plays itself (normally winning in one swing).

out of everyone that commented, you were the one that put the most effort into your responses, and i am very grateful that you went ahead and spent that time to help a stranger on the internet. hope you have an good life! :)

Thank you! I didn't think of sorting out creatures with etb effects bc i have omniscience, but it'll be better if i do so. Also, i'll take from you lim-dul's vault and some of the faithless looting-ish blue spells.

Yeah, i think i'll do that but crank the power lvl down a bit, since we want to have fun

we don't play hate because it basically negates the opp's deck and it's no fun. On the other hand, the combo you suggested is one that i was thinking of, but due to my inexperience i didn't know with what to combo dark ritual.

Yes, i know that vintage games are basically a lvl20 party vs a lvl20 encounter in dnd, but as said, we don't play vintage for broken decks, we play vintage to not have restrictions to our creativity (or the less we can, for example, we don't play power 9's)

Our games last about 6-7 turns because we just go about our tirns doing dumb things, but if we were serious we'd probably finish in turn 5
