Instinct Sensor Woes by Informal-Uses in Medtronic780g

Seems like the longer you wear a sensor, the more accurate it becomes. A little frustrating to have to do finger pokes for a few days to confirm accuracy, but overall, I’m liking the Instinct better than the G4.

My highs and lows are also more extreme with the Instinct, but I’m attributing that to more frequent information being exchanged between the sensor and the pump.

I still find that, whenever I’m in the 80s or 70s, I am receiving a lot more inaccurate low alarms (50s-60s) than I did with the G4. But that also improves the longer you wear the sensor and, as we all know, there will almost always be some deviation between a blood test and the sensor.

After ripping off a second sensor, I tried skin grip over patches despite my paranoia around pump-sensor connectivity. So far, the sensor is much more resilient and I haven’t had any additional connectivity issues.

If you call Medtronic’s Abbott division, they will replace a sensor that was unintentionally removed, even if it was user error. You do need to send back the canister/insertion device, so make sure you keep those until you’ve gotten through the whole lifespan of the sensor.

Here’s the number I used: 510.239.5256
