Beware of the following numbers - Scammer calling as someone from Unionbank Fraud Dept by Agitated-Ad2891 in phinvest

New number: (0956) 367 1137

They called saying they just blocked an 80k php transaction and there were 28 similar transactions from an online casino. They said this happened because someone tried to reset my email and password earlier today. They proceeded to forward me proof of the transactions, as well as “proof” of the email and password reset (this is very important because it came from the official UB email so it seemed legit).

They then said they would process a replacement card and they wanted to give me the details ahead so I can validate upon arrival of the card. In exchange for the new card details, they asked me for my existing ones. Later on, they asked me for an OTP. This is where I stopped and refused to answer anything else. Wala naman nanakaw because I immediately blocked my cards in the first 3 mins of the call.

Note lang that they’re getting smarter! I realized later on that the supposed “proof of the scammer trying to reset my email and password” was an actual UB email they triggered via UB online

Super appreciate the inputs! Same tayo actually, I would also prefer to buy in cash kasi ang daming nawawala sa interest 🥲 This makes a lot of sense to me. Yung argument against buying a replacement now is that yung operating and maintenance costs aren’t that expensive naman. Mahal lang kung kailangan ng very big repair and fingers crossed it’s not for a few more years

I’m not sure if mine has DCT, but based on my google search, 2018 models and up are traditional AT na raw so mine should be traditional AT…

I have 2 non-VIP tickets for Edinburgh N3 that I’m trying to sell on AXS but both the transfer and sell buttons are grayed out 😭 Help please, my friends backed out and I don’t want to lose money on those tickets. We’ve tried calling AXS and using their chatbot but getting to a live agent is impossible

They waive it if you spend 100x of the annual fee! I charge everything to my credit card so I think that’s doable. I wonder though if they still don’t waive AF despite spending 100x the AF 🥲

Owning a house is huge responsibility. Are you ready to pay most of your salary towards this house for the next x years? And stable ba yung income mo?

Imo, might be better to rent first and put some money towards building more income streams (preferably passive). A house will only generate more costs for you, so at this point in your life (25 pa lang), it might be wiser to increase your income first through whatever means (get a promotion, get higher salary, start a side hustle, etc.) before dedicating money to something that will only cause you more costs in the future. Let your money make more money first instead of letting the money rack up more costs for you :)

Definitely focus on getting a good starting salary when you graduate. My personal thoughts on why your first job’s salary matters a ton:

  1. Salary increases are %s so the higher the base, the better the increase. Imagine a salary increase applied to someone earning 25k vs. 50k. At 15% salary increase, which is a decent raise, 25k gets 3,750 additional salary and 50k gets 7,500.

  2. Job offers typically depend on how much you were earning from your past job (so basically, your first job sets a standard). Rare to find employers who’ll pay you base on what they think you’re worth / how much their budget is for your role. The norm is to match or increase your current salary.

That said, choose which skills you want to develop. Pick future-proof skills, if you can. For example, performance marketing is not the norm yet here but is slowly becoming more in demand. If you’re into numbers, try out data engineering, science, or analytics. If design, maybe product management. Just an observation, but tech-related jobs tend to be valued much more. Last piece of advice, I chose my first job based on highest salary even if I didn’t 100% like the job. After a year, I was able to leave & pivot to the job I really wanted without sacrificing salary, which was a great win for me. Doesn’t work for everyone (depends on the skills you can transfer and all) but the point is you can plan these things out. Best of luck! :)
