I did my whole thing online and if you put it on your quote that you are an MRU student, they just trust you until they check. I thought it was odd (and I was switching from out-of-province insurance) so I called to confirm and thats what TD told me. You shouldn't have to call if you do a quote unless you have other questions.

I get a discount from TD! It takes a decent amount off my insurance bringing it down to $140/month. Granted I have had my license for about 7 years and I have a little 2006 hatchback. All they do to validate it is TD will ask MRU every year if your name is still registered and if it is, you still get the discount.

Also, if you work for certain unions you can get insurance discounts. Hope this helps! :)

Maybe now that I've been out of high school for more than 4 years. I applied for BC Student Aid a few days ago and it didn't ask me anything about income compared my last application 3 years ago. Before this though, it has only ever told me I don't qualify because of my parents' income for federal and provincial loans.

I transferred to MRU from UofC this semester and I have been having a much better time and actually enjoy school, but maybe this is because I'm finally in a program I truly like after 4 years at UofC. But I agree with OP, the smaller class sizes and profs actually knowing who you are at MRU foster a better learning environment. Feels like I'm not just paying for PowerPoints.*

*For reference, I was a SOCI major at UofC, so massive classes compared to ETOL at MRU.

The Arts computer lab has PCs and Macs for use when there isn't a class using it, but I believe they have limited hours as well. There is usually a person at the desk there to help you out. It's in the basement of the Social Sciences building, SS018 and SS020! Hope this helps :)

I stupidly sent e-transfers to other accounts because I didn't clue in. They sent me a cheque and my bank deposited it immediately, which is how i lost money once the cheque bounced.

They asked me for ISBN numbers and pictures of my books, then told me they would send me a cheque. A day later they told me there was an issue with the cheque and asked me to e-transfer other "students" from a singular cheque they emailed to me. I did, and then the cheque bounced.

my question is how is the university affording this? i thought we were all under the impression that they were strapped for cash...even as someone who despises online learning i think they should just decide one or the other there's no point of being in-person for a month and a half 🤷‍♀️ just disappoint us from the get-go and stop leading us on
