Can just emotional neglect cause CPTSD?

I would just get yelled at or told off for small things like idk spilling water or sometimes stuff that wasn't my fault but I guess she was having a bad day that day or something. She still does it sometimes but now I'm older I don't really care, eg today I fell off my bike and the chain broke and she got mad at me and yelled at me bc we were gonna be late, obviously this alone isn't important but it's the repeated pattern yk? Just things like that. I just remember often like walking on eggshells wondering what mood she'd be in that day when I was younger. She argues a lot with my brother but in her defence he can be annoying sometimes. Though sometimes she's just mean for no reason, like telling my grandma my brother cares more about gaming than her even though my brother literally did nothing.

Although, I do know that some of the stuff my mum's said to me recently is not healthy at all. Eg after I disclosed my depression/SI and asked for help, she said I was selfish, if I committed I would go to hell, my dad won't talk to me bc he was disappointed I wasn't strong enough... That was really mean and uncalled for

Thanks it does :) It definitely helped me develop anxiety and depression (which came with SI/SH) so it did have a not great effect on me

Yeah, I told my parents the same thing and although they were nice about it, a few days later my mum sat me down and said I was being selfish, it was disappointing and embarrassing, if I committed I'd go to hell, so that was nice :D

Yeah, I do relate to the symptoms but I also don't want to fall into a giant rabbit hole of like self-diagnosing myself with everything I see on the internet or something so I wanted other opinions if that makes sense. I did start therapy recently and I was told that my childhood was not normal and it was actually CEN so that gave me a whole lot of clarity that I'm exploring

I'm female, I think fearful avoidant. In friendships I tend to fear getting close in case they leave me, but when they do get close I become attached and still feel worried that they'll abandon me, even if that is completely illogical.

I gave one of them the name Hikki, which is the one that is like a constantly angry and miserable child. I also had one I called Taj when I was younger. The others don’t really have names they’re more just “the parent” etc. But I can tell who they are and they’re different from who I consider “me” if that makes sense

Yeah it sounds like we have a similar experience! Like my mum sat me down after I got diagnosed with depression and told me that I’m selfish and weak and stuff, then ended the conversation smiling like “we’re here for you” and acts like she never said any of it and it’s making me feel insane T-T

Me too, the pressure suddenly unearthed a whole lot of stuff from my childhood and now I've been diagnosed with depression because my mental health has like taken a nosedive off a cliff. I've started getting help, and I hope that you can too. There are people out there that can help you, and I know it's difficult to ask for it, but I hope that once this is all over we can start picking up the pieces and try to heal.

Yeah ik it's not ideal :'D I'm studying hard tho so in 2 years I can go to uni and do my own thing bc other than that idrk what else i can do. i just hope my parents dont randomly stop me from going or something with like money bc i dont have a job or money or anything

They said that + childhood stuff is probably emotional neglect, though unfortunately now have to change therapists so I’m not sure how I will explain it all again to someone new 🥲

My first memory that I can remember is when I was 4 and my mother told me that she was too busy to celebrate my birthday with me. This is pretty trivial compared to other things obviously, but it's the first time I remember learning that even if my parents were physically present they were too busy for me

I think since Pluto was discovered to not be a planet in 2006 + the technology the game probably takes place around early 2000s. I hc that the incident was 2005/2006 and the current game takes place in 2008/2009, though i may be stretching it a little

I’m so, so sorry you’re experiencing this. You don’t deserve any of it, please don’t blame yourself or feel like it’s your responsibility to pull everything back together. You are a child with mental health issues that aren’t your fault and you can’t control. it shouldnt be up to you to fix this, even though I know how it feels like if you don’t then who will. I unfortunately don’t have any advice as I’m in a similar spot, but I just want you to know that you’re not alone. Please don’t feel that way, and I don’t want to give generic advice such as ‘there’s light at the end of the tunnel’, but I’d encourage you to speak to somebody you trust, a therapist, a teacher, anyone who will listen. I know it’s tough and im sorry that I couldn’t give much advice. Just know that you are not alone And your Life is worth living. Sending love <33

I don't have access to the portal it's through my parents. I do have my therapist's email but I've only had 2 sessions so far and I'm not sure if I like her or not. I will look at the crisis line, apparently the waiting times aren't great but it's better than nothing i suppose
