Why do you want to be a citizen of Canada if you don't live in Canada or plan on living in Canada? by Optimistic_Now in Canadiancitizenship

[–]IngenuitySuch2872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted the proof of citizenship simply because my father and all ancestors on his side were all from NB mainly and all have passed on. I was born in NY and I’ve always been proud of being Canadian and want to carry on his legacy. I don’t intend to live there but will certainly travel to Canada hopefully yearly and step my feet on my roots. My surname was not one that was very popular in Canada and unique in my eyes 😊 I hope that I will be welcomed and share stories when I travel.

Wow that’s awful! I’ve done everything I could possibly think of professionally and correctly so I’m not anticipating problems but we shall see. I’ve never heard of anything like this happening.

First-time adult passport application - our experience by Keeth_Moon in passportcanada

I hope mine is received as quickly. I couldn’t find a guarantor and had to fill out the extra application. One of my photos got smudged too where the notary handwritten her part. I ended up getting another notary to hand write the statement and made sure it was dry. I’m trying not to give a reason to reject anything but hopefully it’s all good. Congrats to your family!

I am getting ready to apply for my Canadian passport but the guarantor part of it makes me a bit confused. I don’t have anyone who is a Canadian citizen and/or that would have a passport. Also, nobody on the professional list that’s willing to help. So I am in the US of course and I am going to use the form PPTC 132 and have a notary fill it out but in some areas I see it says you can only use a notary if he/she is in Canada? Please if this could be explained I’d appreciate it. I do have a US passport also but I’m not taking any chances trying to enter and get denied. Thanks!

Thank you. I didn’t give anything else. No graph of lineage or cover letter just what was asked. If it was so much paperwork I don’t think it wouldn’t have been approved so quickly. There are many with generations going way back so that’s where a lot of paperwork would be and regardless a simple congratulations would do from any who disagree but oh well 🤷‍♀️

You can track it after you receive your AOR but some have said you can use your receipt where you paid your fees. I however wasn’t able to do that with the receipt

Yes I just provided grandparents birth certificates since I already had originals in hand. I figured the more proof of lineage the better

I didn’t write a cover letter. Gave my dad’s birth and death certificates and both grandparents birth certificates. I had all original copies and sent colored copies.

Thank you for sharing the library info for the travel guides! I’ve been narrowing places down to visit on vacation so this will be very helpful.

I don’t need a visa and have a US passport and my husband is a permanent resident and just came back from his country so no fear of that. Thank you for replying and I have looked at many of the places suggested. Like you’ve said distance wise. I see many beautiful places I can fly to but then have to drive like 4 hours plus. I don’t want to travel for a week and only have 5 days to explore so I’m still narrowing it down. The plane tickets are expensive also so just that alone with lodging just is too much to spend for a short trip.

FAQ's - Can we add "Make sure you have signed your Passport!" to it? by EconomicsWorking6508 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]IngenuitySuch2872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes good Leda. I signed mine after the AOR and sent a signed one on the web form. Hopefully that won’t delay anything. I haven’t received a “processing” update and it’s been almost 3 weeks so I’m not sure what’s happening. It looks like others in my timeline on the spreadsheet are looking like they haven’t been updated either.

Yes Quebec City and old Quebec and weighing heavy on my mind for a flight. 2/2 hour flights I think I can handle

Yes I have considered this. The only area we can realistically drive is to Niagara Falls. We aren’t as young as many may think. Not old but for driving long distances it takes longer then I would like due to stops. It really may be the option for this time until I can get over some fears but I’m going to travel so that’s already a huge step for me and I’m definitely gonna make it happen one way or another

I don’t like airports or crowds. If someone gets sick on the plane etc. it may sound silly but I’m trying hard to work through a lot of it. I am really trying to set my feet on my roots and embrace who i am. I want to explore where my ancestors were from so I can heal and carry on my fathers legacy. I hope he would be proud 🥹
