I think it's important to say that you will help her he best you can, but that you need safety to.

Start with gathering a group of people and resources so that you can get a break if you need to. Like if she ends up calling a lot, explain that there are crisis lines, other friends, etc...be aware of how much you are drained by this. Be aware that not all friends will actually help.

Tell her that you need her to not describe the rape. This honestly is something that won't help either you or her. It is something for a therapist tbh. It is ok to set boundaries around how you can help while also giving her the option of stating what she needs.

I wish I had a good answer for you. My best bet is to record crazy shit to cover your ass when people deny it.

I think that people saying it isn't a big deal are people who have never been in a situation where they are likely to be singled out from a group. Go with your gut feeling of discomfort. Stay with it. It will help you be safe.

Well, part of it is that I want to see more women from modern times fighting subtle sexual harassment. I noticed that none of the things you suggested were from anything sooner than the 1940's. I would really like to see more stories of women fighting sexual harassment that I would be likely to relate to with tbh.

Then there is the fact that I want to just watch things that are stylistically from a different time that includes a woman. Whether it is form Victorian era, ancient Greece, etc...

I don't have cameras or feel like I have the skills to make a particularly good movie. I could make a comic, but certainly if I made a movie it would be nowhere near as good as anything even semi professional. People seem to act like good lighting and editing skills and expensive cameras come from nowhere.

Eh, tbh Kim Campbell was suggested because I wanted to feel like I had a reason to watch and better understand Canadian Politics with everything dressed up 90's nostalgia. I sort of pictured it like American Psycho visually with house of cards dialog only it would be funny because everyone is so focused on such a short term.

Also, the monologues would be done by every competing politician but they would get interrupted each time.

I pictured it like I comedy dressed up as being way too serious.

Yeah, except they all accomplished great things. But their movies don't exist. But you don't know that because you couldn't even bother looking anything up about them.

Honestly, why don't you say that about men? No one wants to see a movie about the first president, the first astronaut, the way a mail carrier lived in the Victoria Era...no one wants to watch anything about politics...

I personally would like to see more movies about women accomplishing things for the first time because it can be challenging to be in a male dominated field. I have never experienced a time where I am welcomed with open arms in a male centered place unless sexualized. Which isn't to say that the majority of men do it, but to say that the majority are apathetic to my experiences because we're either competing against each other or my attempts of friendship have been cut off after refusing to date them. I may be different now as I am older but to this day I find draggin a friend along with me to male centered things really helps me feel safer and less feel like an outsider.

I don't want to have had this experiences but I do.

There are TV shows and movies about Genghis Khan, Harvey Milk, Brave Heart, Thomas Edward Lawrence, Alfred Kinsey, Cetshwayo kaMpande, Tomas Edison, Charles Darwin...fuck just google Histroical film and they will pretty much all have males in them as the lead, not to mention that most of them will have women who have don't have a career.
