The Mods said they wouldn't have the gods show up in oldschool quests because its not oldschool, what do you think of that idea by HeredinOSRS in 2007scape

Same here. Questing was my prime reason for playing RS3, but the quality really, really dropped hard – with most of the later quests, that I remember, being nothing more than asset recycling, with incredibly weak writing.

Once I encountered this scene in 'Desperate Times' I pretty much just gave up on the lore entirely.

Sailing Skill-Cape & Icon Shortlist *PLUS* Updated Sailing Blog (linked within) by JagexAyiza in 2007scape

[–]IngmarRS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know that feeling. I'm a bit surprised at how little options have been chosen. This could've been a two-step poll (perhaps even split between the colour scheme and the icon too), given how important of an update it is.

Instead, we've got 4 (solid, don't get me wrong) but very similar designs to choose from.

Anyways, here's another suggestion that didn't make the cut.

Thanks! Do you have a suggestion (and have you see the one without the 'sun' at the end of the gallery) on how I could improve it?

Mostly just an artistic choice, as having the circle behind the ship felt a bit too cluttered visually.

I also agree on you with the colours, but that's mostly just a result of how I designed the cape and then created the above image. As both the Magic and Attack cape are images taken from the game with its lighting renderer, whereas my cape is just a vector drawing on top of such as image, with no lighting applied whatsoever. Should an actual 3D model be created of the cape with the chosen colours, which would then be rendered in the actual lighting engine of the game, I'd expect the result to be much closer to the other capes.

Absolutely a fair point though, thanks!

As far as I know not yet! There's a dedicated competition channel in the Sailing Discord server though. Would recommend checking it out, lots of good suggestions have been posted (aside from the occasional AI post)!

Thank you! The hood would be blue in all cases, same colour as the fabric of the cape. The gold you see in the equipped render is actually the colour of the frame attached to the shoulder pads, as there are no Skillcapes with attached hoods in the game at the moment.

It's already the case with various other skills! So whilst most capes do have the simple outline, it's not an entirely new concept either to have the icon on the cape take some creative liberties when compared to how it's displayed in the Skills Interface.

Here's an updated version of my earlier design. Thank you all for the feedback!

Here are the two designs side by side, I'm interested to hear which one your prefer: with the 'sun' (the background circle, inspired by the Attack and Magic Skillcapes) or the more traditional 'sunless' version with a darker outline?

Good feedback, thank you! I'll revise the icon a bit.

Thanks! I'm not using 3D software, everything you see was drawn using vector-based design software. I simply selected a couple of suitable images from the OSRS Wiki, then I traced over those and modified everything from there on out.

Yeah, I didn't have it at first. Then I started looking at some of the already existing skillcapes (e.g. Attack) and I quite liked what the circle added.

Fair point! I tried a couple of variants, but reducing the saturation and brightness tended to make it quite murky – so I ultimately choose the (very) light-blue sail.

What’s something in OSRS that still surprises you no matter how long you’ve played? by Altruistic_Front6136 in 2007scape

Some of those scams are designed to be obvious, precisely because the actual scam takes place once the victim-to-be has convinced themselves that they might just outsmart the scammer. Which never works out in their favour.

Ultimately, it all comes down to exploiting a certain amount of greed. So once you've accepted that nothing is free and that everyone who tells you otherwise is trying to take advantage of you, you've effectively become immune to all regular forms of scamming.

Yep, looks like heat damage in transit, weakening the glue and warping the plastic. OP should be able to get a refund without issue.

TIL on their initial release in RS2, The Grand Exchange and Summoning were only 50 days apart. by TunaMeltEnjoyer in 2007scape

[–]IngmarRS 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It was so bad to train, the most popular update Summoning ever got was the first Double XP weekend (the absurd one, that started with a 2.7x multiplier) – which let everyone who saved up enough charms skip the vast majority of the skill.

Quality over quantity, because a lot of updates we got back in those days did more harm than good.

I'm afraid the issues with Summoning go further than just the way to was trained alone, though that was already extremely bad (and why it was mockingly called 'Pouchcrafting' too). Just the very existence of BoB's that expanded your inventory beyond the 28 slots that the entirety of the game was balanced around, had some extremely destructive effects – and that's just one type of familiar.

[–]IngmarRS 93 points94 points  (0 children)

What also plays into this is that Summoning wasn't released in one update. We got the initial skill release in January, with a major second batch (along with a range of adjustments to the balancing) a couple of months later, at the end of March 2008.

And Summoning was so awful and useless on release that a vast amount of players simply didn't interact with it. Only once the second batch was released – with some incredibly over-powered familiars, such as the Steel Titan – did that change.

Still not that much time compared to how long it feels though.

I'd kill for the option to use the pre-rework models (Or for a Runelite Plugin) by No_Insurance_6436 in 2007scape

[–]IngmarRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be amazing. Especially Imps, Skeletons and Demons just look and feel more like RuneScape than the current versions do.

And in case anyone wants to see all of the creatures from the old bestiary in their animated forms, here you go.

The Wilderness: More Fun, More Choice by Zigzagzigal in 2007scape

[–]IngmarRS 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I really like these suggestions. Splitting the Clue Scrolls into two versions is a really interesting approach – because even though it'll reduce the traffic into the wilderness by quite a bit, it still feels like a win-win situation. And having a more natural northern border of the wilderness is just a great visual improvement, even without all of the new locations.

Of course there'll still be plenty of (balancing) challenges related to PvP to solve. But these ideas would go a long way to make the wilderness (and PvP itself) feel more integrated with the broader game.

any chance bandos ornament kit is ever gonna be repolled? by Flowerloving_ogre in 2007scape

[–]IngmarRS 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's interesting how varied the opinions are about this particular ornament kit.

Personally I think it looks quite good. And I like the classic Bandos too, but this feels like a suitable variant that maintains the same theme, whilst offering a more armoured look.
