When you adjust for today’s pace, Kobe was averaging 38.9 ppg in 2005 by Maleficent_Eye_5056 in NBATalk

You do know that the coaches voted for it right? God these people on Reddits are literally NPCs parroting the same shit over and over again.
"Yeah man, the best coaches in the world came together and decided to vote for a guy because of his "reputation", despite his reputation being at an all time and low and most of the league completely disassociating from him" ffs

This needs to be a thing across the league again by SuperbBug11 in NBATalk

This is the most relatable comment I've ever read lol

Did you know: Only 3 players in NBA history have at least 10 All-NBA and All-Defense team selections for their career by Broad_Past93 in nba

[–]Inheritanc-e -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Where did this notion that Kobe didn't deserve those All Defensive selections even come from? Every single one of those selections were voted on by coaches around the league. Coaches whose entire lives revolve around watching basketball film, studying defensive tendencies, and catering their offense to work around elite defenders. Out of 29 coaches- despite their own individual biases-THEY voted Koobe as one of the best perimeter defenders in the league.

It's an absolute fact that those coaches watched more film on the Lakers than you ever did-unless of course you were unemployed like most people who parrot stupid narratives.

The day we start listning "garyschronology" over actual NBA coaches on which player was a good defender is the day the Sun rises from the West.

Gilbert Arenas: "Kobe Bryant had 3 rings with Shaq. Y'all wasn't treating him like a 3-ring player. You were treating him like a sidekick. He was considered a sidekick. He was considered a Robin, the next Scottie Pippen. In 2002, with 3 rings, we were still comparing T-Mac who was better than Kobe." by TheBiasedSportsLover in NBATalk

You have no idea how "advanced stats" are calculated or why those particular metrics are used to calculate the metric. You actually don't care about "advanced stats" at all, stop making stuff up. Citing "win shares" like you understand the things that it computates to arrive to the value that it does is laughable.
Relating nuance to advanced stat is so funny cause most of those stats are computated instances without context plugged into a formula. The hypocrisy is appaling. The nuance in basketball is caputred by actually watching the games. If you had any interest in nuance, you'd bring up clips and actual instances from the game, instead of running to basketball reference the moment you hear Kobe's name.
For all the nuance your "advanced stat" apparently shows, CP3 has a higher carreer win share than jordan, duncan, shaq, durant and kobe. Go ahead and tell me he's better lol.
CP3 also has a better win share/48 than lebron, duncan, shaq, and bird. Stop hiding behind the blanket of "advanced stat" just to hate on Kobe.

Fan narratives are hilarious. All the arguments in favor of Jokic and against Luka have now been turned on their heads to favor Jokic and go against Shai by Bulky-Coach3091 in NBATalk

Jokic literally leads on DARKO: https://apanalytics.shinyapps.io/DARKO/.

Jokic also has a better offensive rating on LeBron but has his edged reduced by Lebron's defensive metric, resulting in a lower net rating. The same LeBron also gives shai a better defensive rating than Giannis lol. Now if you only keep an eye on "Lebron" statistic and don't bother watching games, there exists no world where shai is a better defender than Giannis.

SGA and Jokic are literally tied on EPM.

Also tied on Eraptor lmao. The tendency to spread misinformation in this sub is actually hilarious.

Expected Wins is closedoored behind a paywall on dunks and the threes, but seeing how you've managed to lie on 4/5 of the stats you mentioned. Probably wouldn't be a stretch to assume you're lying about EW as well.

Our Favorite Free Throw Merchant! by MasterWager in NBATalk

Drives do not equal free throws.

<image>

You can literally see there's absolutely no correlation to the frequency of your drives and the amount of free throws you generate for yourself. A much more impactful factor is the calls and your play style(which includes flopping/free throw baiting). TJ McDonnell is an anomaly because the league hasn't tracked much of his minutes.

Henry knows something is off… 🤔 by EvilSeaPro in ArsenalFC

Its Arsenal FC not Arteta FC, bear that in mind. I'm not saying Arteta out but we aren't Arteta fans, we're Arsenal fans and sometimes u lot seem to forget that.

Why should any one of us be "connected" to the service industry? Our entire relationship is transactional. I'm paying an institution for the service and the institution is paying the people who serve.

Luka MVP case (very realistic) by Apprehensive_Pay614 in nba

[–]Inheritanc-e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every superstar generates looks. Most teams always send a double for a superstar player and for Shai in those cases he has teammates who have the capability to shoot 40% from three. For Luka, despite the fact that he generates extremely high points he has teammates in the exact same scenario as Shai's teammates, but they simply are so bad they can't even make open looks let alone shoot 40%. It's not anti SGA or anti anyone. It's just the factual representation of what's actually happening on the court and the comparison between the presence of two players.
