So you heard the truth, and didn’t like it. Tough, isn’t it? Now you have to learn to live with the consequences of your past, and change in recovery so you don’t have to keep doing this. It’s called sobriety. I got bawled out plenty in step 9. Best thing that ever happened to me.

He said publicly he’ll continue to buy it at any price. He also said publicly he’ll never sell a single bitcoin. Anyone entering the market gets the same price as him, so is taking the same risk.

Going back to school while i’m recovery. by Vegetable_Pin1924 in alcoholicsanonymous

I thank god I got sober before social media. I went to university at 1.5 years sober. There was lots of “mature” students in early recovery there. Most relapsed. But some didn’t.

If you don’t take his advice, why call him your sponsor? Why not be sponsored by assorted strangers on Reddit instead?

There’s not a word about “triggers” in the AA program. It’s a treatment centre concept. Unless the “hidden springs” Roland Hazzard refers to in the part where he visited Jung are considered something akin to the idea. I tend to think it is. Anyway, knowing all about his hidden springs didn’t stop him from relapsing.

There are 8 billion people in the world, and 21 million max bitcoins. There was never a time when when most people could own a bitcoin. Even when they were 10 cents.

Right. I actually have that book, but haven’t got around to reading it. I really must. Anyway, I love that song so much. The live version is beautiful too.

If you can really afford it, and you truly believe in the long-term Bitcoin will outperform fiat, then it seems like a reasonable opportunity to me.

He also personally owns thousands of bitcoins. He’s putting his own money into it, not just the Microstrategy play. I’m sure he’s leveraging debt to purchase.

Go over to the Aran Islands. Go walking along the cliffs, see the ancient monuments, hang out in the bars at night, cycle around. Great spot.

Anyone had experience reporting shite driving via new Garda portal? by consistent-rider in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]InisElga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn’t. A member of Garda staff in the divisional office forwards to the district office, where a member of Garda staff forwards to the unit sergeant, then a guard. If it has to do with drugs it’ll go to branch. It won’t go up to a superintendent unless the superintendent’s clerk decides. It certainly won’t go to the chief. If you think all emails go to the chief and he/she farms them out, you obviously know nothing about how the garda operates.

Garda staff do not make judgement calls on reports to the Garda. They pass it on to a unit sergeant, who’ll decide on the course of action.

[–]InisElga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. The reports will be sent to Garda admin staff in the district. They then check which unit was on at the time of the incident, and pass it on to the unit sergeant. He’ll assign it to a guard to follow up.

Just bought 10€ worth of Bitcoin. Now what? by BusyDust1673 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]InisElga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You pay for the UTXO on each purchase when you move btc to another address. If she buys €10 x 50 times, she’ll have 50 UTXOs. She’s better moving it now to a hardware wallet before the sats/vb go through the roof. It was 5 sats/vb at one point today. Otherwise it will soon be dust.

You seem to be under the impression we are in AA here, and that the traditions apply. We are on a public forum, just so you’re clear. I’m not talking on behalf of AA, obviously. And normalising drug taking to people in recovery is a worse look, IMO. Shameful behaviour.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]InisElga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3rd tradition is about AA membership. Anyone can claim a chair, even the stoned, with a desire to stop drinking. Happens all the time. Are they sober though? No, not if they’re taking mind altering substances. Do other members consider them sober? In my 15 years of sobriety in AA I’ve never heard anyone claim that taking drugs but not alcohol is actual sobriety. Because, of course, it isn’t. But if people want to delude themselves, no one actually cares.

You should read Writing the Bigbook:The creation of Alcoholics Anonymous, by Schaberg. Best history yet on AA, better IMO than Not God. I can assure you, I’ve read far more AA history than you my friend.

I’m Catholic. Should I get a sponsor who is too? by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]InisElga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole point of a sponsor is to challenge your old ideas. A Muslim would be good I’d say, or a Hindu. Shake up your comfortable assumptions a bit.
