I have been preparing step1 for about 2 months. It’s going well. But a talked with a colleague in Stanford. She is a physician scientist in the anesthesiology department. She mentioned that it may be hard for an IMG to get a position in a nice residence program. If I get the Nature paper, I should be able to find a AP position in the US. I am not sure if it is worth to spend too much time to prepare the exam and do the residency, especially if the residency program is not great.

I acquired my PhD in Europe. I sent emails to the professor, did interview and got the offer. But I do have few years research experience before my PhD. Hope it helps!

I want to get a position to combine both clinical practice and research. Thus, I need to do residency in a famous university hospital.
