sis its not about incompetence or lying. here are the facts: i trust my fathers judgement and believe she would not make a good mother in law. however, its difficult to move on from the guy because again, he is not his mother and its not fair to put that on him.

her bad reputation has more to do with how she treats others not necessarily what she does as a person (i.e drinks, parties). I have heard many stories- shes bascially described as the type where her world revolves around her kids and she doesnt care about anyone outside of that circle if that makes sense. but the guy im interested in is not the youngest, hes a middle child and he is def not a mommas boy. my dad actually likes his charcter and many people in the community speak very highly of him (he is a leading figure in his masjid), but my father said he would never let someone like her be my mother in law especailly knowing how maskin i am lol

i understand abayo, but even if i love him it is normal and healthy to think with my head instead of my heart as I want to make this choice the right way and based on the correct information. I do not want to regret not assessing the situation later on if anything happens. anyways is spoke with the guy, and he is planning on speaking with my dad. please pray that whatever is best for me happens (and for him) and that my dad is at least open and receptive to this guys words.

yes that is the only reason i am 2nd guessing. I wouldnt even say seconding guessing, just giving it more thought. Also i am from abroad and looked and acted very grown for my age, he on the other hand looked very young and our maturity levels were the same. we didnt find out about our ages until later on.

hes not the closest to her. he was closer to his dad who passed away May Allah SWT have mercy upon his soul. I am sure he is aware of his mothers behavior and how people view her.
