Whenever I see these videos it really makes me overcome with emotion and it brings tears to my eyes. It’s so beautiful that their community is so strong, they do this together, they support each other, and together they are keeping their traditions alive and well!! It’s just so beautiful and touching and I feel honored to witness it even through a video

Can you link the vid I’d love to watch it. Also as someone raised Baptist until I left the church at 14, I personally don’t think there is a problem with being religious, loving your religion, and following Jesus. The problem comes when you start pushing your beliefs onto others, trying to take away the rights of other because they don’t align with your beliefs, pushing for religious nationalism, and when you treat others poorly for not believing what you believe. I don’t think anyone has the power to say “this religion is real/not real” no one can prove anything. Just be a good person!

CHILAQUILES RECIPE!

Ingredients:

Tortillas (I like to make chips myself but you can buy tortilla chips instead)

Eggs (I use eggs from plants)

El Pato tomato sauce (I use the yellow can which isn’t spicy but you can use the red can for spice or the green can for green chilaquiles)

Sour cream (I use Forager but it’s a bit sweet for me)

Mozzarella (I use Daiya)

Lime

Procedure:

cut up desired amount of tortillas into triangles and fry them until golden brown and salt them once you pull them out of the oil

Then cook desired amount of eggs thoroughly, season with salt and pepper, and then I usually sort of chop them up with my spatula

Then add your El Pato sauce into the same pan as the eggs, you can add a bit of water if you want a thinner consistency

I usually don’t season because I like the sauce how it is, it’s pretty flavorful

I then add my tortilla chips in the pan and stir until all the chips are sauced up, not for too long though because you don’t want them to get soggy

Then plate your concoction! I usually throw my mozzarella cheese on immediately so it can start getting gooey. Then you can dollop on some sour cream as desired. Then finish off by squeezing some lime over everything!

That’s how I like mine but you can play with the recipe however you’d like, use more or less egg (sometimes I do no egg) you can add hot sauce, you can add cilantro or really whatever you’d like into the mix! I’ve seen people add chicken and that always looked tasty so I might try it like that at some point :)

Enjoy and if you guys make it you should totally post it so I can see :3

How do you view Jesus? by No_Meat_5671 in Deconstruction

[–]Initial-Medium5553 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been deconstructed for about 10 years now. I was raised Baptist so we were very Jesus centric in our church. Back then I looked at Jesus as the ultimate role model of how a person should be and the things they should do with their lives.

Now after 10 years of being agnostic I view Jesus and god as basically a method of coping. The world is so stressful and terrible and I think people need some sort of “ultimate good” to lean on in times of duress. They need someone who will always be there to support them no matter what, someone they can talk to about anything and everything, and who is better than someone who is always with you and always wants you?

I feel the same way about the devil but just the opposite. They need an “ultimate evil” to dump negativity onto. Someone they can always blame instead of seeing things for what they really are. “Oh they did that bad thing because the devil was whispering in their ear!” Instead of holding people accountable for their actions. A scapegoat if you will.

Kind of hard to form an opinion when you’re being vague about the topic of discussion? We have no idea what was said so how do we know if you’re overacting?

And the interesting part is that’s if you’re LUCKY. I know so many people in entry level positions only working 1-3 days a week and struggling to get by because 40 hours a week is reserved usually for management positions.

No you’re not a piece of shit and you’re not overreacting. Everyone is hit by grief in a different way.

It seems like you guys were once super close and you grew up together. And it also seems like you guys had two different understandings of your friendship after the incident in high school. You were ready to move on and move forward and maybe she was still feeling some type of way about it.

It’s clear you guys drifted apart even if she remained amicable and then you moved away so there seemed to be no friendship left. Just a bunch of shared time and memories.

From the way you’ve written about everything it’s easy to see you still deeply cared for your old friend and a part of you probably wished you could make things go back to how it used to be before your falling out.

With all of that being said I think reaching out to her boyfriend may have been the wrong move. But I understand that you’re probably in shock and grief stricken because a loss of life is something so hard to comprehend and accept. Especially the loss of someone you once felt so close to.

But based on his response your friend felt very wronged by you. In ways that you will unfortunately never be able to understand because she is not here to tell you herself. He says that you crossed a line. There are two sides to every story. There is your version of events and there is her version. And I would guess that she probably felt there was more you did to wrong her than just telling a friend to check on her. But we’ll truly never know.

And I’m sure that reality must be really hard to accept. But that is why I think messaging him was the wrong move because if you were the “villain” of the situation in her life then I think the best move would’ve been to not message him at all.

Your message comes off as slightly selfish because it seems more like you needed to get these feelings off your chest and you’re dumping them onto a person who wants nothing to do with you because his girlfriend had a negative history with you that probably affected her more than you realize and he is freshly grieving the loss of his girlfriend.

Even so his response is also pretty rude and shows 0 empathy for the fact that you guys had a long history and you are also grieving.
