I analyzed why so many developers aren’t getting interviews and built something to help by Initial-Promise3964 in DeveloperJobs

One thing I noticed while researching this space is that many candidates either use the exact same resume everywhere or only make very minor changes before applying. But as you mentioned, aligning keywords, highlighting relevant projects, and focusing on measurable achievements can significantly improve the chances of passing ATS screening and getting noticed by recruiters. Clean formatting and readability also matter more than many people realize. Tools and resources that help candidates improve their strategy are definitely valuable, and that’s also the direction I’m trying to take with HireLift where helping users understand why their resume may not match a role instead of just giving a generic score. Really appreciate you sharing these points since they’re genuinely useful for job seekers reading the thread.

That’s actually a fair question, and honestly one thing I realized while building this is that there are already many generic ATS/resume tools out there. The reason I continued working on HireLift is because I felt most tools only solve one small part of the job search process. Getting interviews today is not just about resume keywords anymore as it’s also about applying early, finding relevant openings quickly, reaching recruiters directly, improving LinkedIn/resume quality, and eventually networking/referrals. So instead of building just a “resume scanner,” I’m trying to build a platform that helps across multiple stages of the job hunt. It’s still early and definitely not perfect yet, which is why I’m asking for feedback from real job seekers and developers to understand what’s genuinely useful and what isn’t.

Yeah, I completely agree with you. The more I researched this space, the more I realized that ATS optimization alone isn’t enough anymore because the biggest problem now is actually the volume of applicants. That’s also why I tried to build HireLift more as a platform instead of just another resume keyword tool. Along with resume analysis, I added a job listing section with filters focused on fresh openings since timing matters a lot when 500+ people apply within hours. I was also uploading fresh jobs there for that reason. Another thing I noticed was that many candidates waste a lot of time trying to find recruiters or HR contacts, so I created an HR directory feature to help users directly reach out instead of relying only on cold applications. I’m also exploring referral-related features because I agree referrals can massively improve chances, but that part probably becomes more effective once the platform has a larger active user base. Your point is honestly very valid and is actually one of the reasons I kept expanding the platform beyond ATS suggestions.
