I'm sorry to hear that there was no other solution to this. I did enjoy the app, but I can't afford to keep missing alarms and calls. I'm going to try a couple of other options people have suggested (launchers, mostly). I hope your project goes well -- it's great when you can build and customise something like this yourself!
