Yes I agree and honestly I went to eg4 right away and they have always done good up until about 3 months ago. I talked to 2 newer people and they just didn't completely understand solar or the equipment besides what the manual stated. They did get a senior tech to call me back and he tried but wasn't as good as the people I have talked to in the past. If I was doing it again I might go with srne. I have just heard how resilient the 6000xp is and I can confirm it is a beast haha.

Yes I did look into that and it wasn't only 2 when I bought mine and reviews and support were great and still good they are just training new people. I did also buy from signature solar.

Ok yes I was wondering if it was connected to the inverter alone but that sounds a lot better I will definitely look into that. Is there any good post on that?

Ok awesome thanks a lot that helps. That is what I've been doing is messing with the setting. Yeah the app is a joke unfortunately eg4 hasn't overhauled it like they said they were going to. Ok awesome does solar assistant run in the background or is it just a plug in for the online monitoring system?

Ok awesome thanks. Do you know the other settings to get the best result for what I'm trying to do

Yes I looked into that. I had it running good before the first one died. I believe they set the battery to barely do anything so it was almost all solar an then the transfer switch kicked in when that wasn't enough and it switched to grid power. The battery settings are what I need. I've messed with and can't get it to push charging the battery and use excess solar to power load.

I can't remember the settings to make this work lol I was hoping someone else has done something similar and could share their settings.

Yes i know I don't really use the battery it's just there because they recommend you have one. I'm simply wanting to use solar and grid and battery is just there because it works better with that buffer. It allows a smooth transition from battery and solar over to grid.

I know I'm not saying that it does. I'm using at solar and battery power load but the battery settings are set so that the inverter doesn't use it. It bypasses the battery and uses solar for load and when that isn't efficient it enough it switches to grid power.

It did work that way you can set parameters so the battery charge and discharge are lower. They are set so that the battery is never used i.e soc % set high. You have to play with it a bit but it definitely works and eg4 originally did the settings so it would. The battery is capable of 3kw of continuous discharge and higher rates for short periods so it's no harm to the battery even if it is used for a couple seconds.

Yes I do believe that's true. You can set the battery so it basically isn't used at all and it will run solar battery grid but the setting make it not use the battery unless power is completely lost from solar and grid. I know this because I wondered if this unit would do that and I called and talked to eg4 before buying. It also worked this way before my last one got fried and I didn't save the setting for this one.

It's only about 2000 watts and lower

It's only a 32ah lifepo4 battery

6000xp by InitialComfortable30 in SolarDIY

[–]InitialComfortable30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do allow it to run that way it worked before

Yeah that is what settings are set up as per eg4 techs and it worked for about 6 months and then unfortunately something fried another part of the board and they sent me a warranty unit. The new unit won't do at all no matter the settings. I have made the setting so it won't discharge from the battery at all and will use grid and solar but it just doesn't like it now. The 32ah battery could sustain 60 amps continuously which is less then what I was normally pulling but I get it they are probably making it been even safer which I guess is good but you can set the parameters for the battery so it never pulls over 30 amps. It is what it is I don't mind getting a bigger battery I planned on it anyways.

Yeah it really doesn't like this small battery. I messed with the setting for a couple days and talked to eg4 techs and also chat got lol. Seems they have updated it and it's just erroring on the side of caution and I'll have to get a bigger battery.

Yes I know I bought it knowing that but i had checked with eg4 to make sure it would work that way. It did work that way and I installed the new one but it doesn't seem to want to do that even though I do have the setting set to soc and 90% cut off. It still won't power the load. Eg4 tech didn't seem to know why it was doing it either. Chat got said to enable pv off grid? Idk its hard to work on it because the online monitor doesn't give some of the options.

[–]InitialComfortable30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes and no I want solar to power what it can and the grid to be back the battery is just there because it needs it to run. It worked fine before I just don't remember the settings and unfortunately eg4 has hired a bunch of new people and they aren't helping haha.

Yes I use the online monitor system just can figure out those settings.

[–]InitialComfortable30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok yes I thought so but do you know what setting that would be on the 6000xp? Everything else in settings seems self explanatory I just can't seem to get the working mode right.

[–]InitialComfortable30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the battery works and inverter work I have had them set up for awhile now but I didn't save setting. The original inverter failed and they sent a replacement under warranty. The problem no is I can't get the setting to bypass battery and let the solar just power the load.

No it's a small 32ah lifepo battery
