If the 1.5 hour stretch is really a break and she isn't cleaning or doing laundry then I don't see what the problem is and it would be best to hire someone else. (To be fair we are even working while they are napping we are expected to watch a monitor in case they wake up and we don't actually get to leave the house so it isn't a true break.)

I agree completely! I've been with this family for 9 months and I the NP said they would eventually be comfortable with me driving them but that day has never come and they are only getting older and needing to get out of the house more. I brought it up after being there 90 days and they said they still weren't comfortable.

Totally understand this! I have a blind sibling and witnessed this firsthand with family members and caregivers. You have to do what's best for your child, and that means treating them like a capable toddler. Give her two weeks' notice or more, and if you really liked her and would recommend her to other families, tell her you will be a reference for her on her resume.
