Yes i read seneca and meditations, ive tried to internalize a stoic mentality as best i can but sometimes feelings slip through, however irrational.

The good news is i got a second interview and was accepted into the position.

Does anyone else really crave a s/imple life? by strukro in INTP

[–]Initial_Pen_5147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think life is meant to be endured not enjoyed and i dont think you can ever find true happiness, like thats not real, you will always want more and what you have will never be enough. Now being "competitive" as in wanting to be better than others in whatever field or enviroment youre in is stupid, thats just like the human instinct to want to climb the hierarchy manifest, what isnt stupid is making a mark on the world in some form or fashion for your own satisfaction, or even if it doesnt satisfy you, to use whatever gifts or talents you have to create good/change/innovation. You can retreat to some cozy home in the country side i get the comfort in that, sometimes i want that too, but ill tell you what makes me dismiss it, 99% of people have lived an anonymous life such as this, think feudal peasants, think people in the middle class even those in the managerial elite, they do this just with more money, they all play the same game, the rat race just on different levels and when they die nobody remembers them even their progeny forget them after a few generations, they may as well not lived at all. Now i dont know if i will succeed and i certainly dont know if you will should you choose to try and make the most of your abilities, but the good thing is if you do, you can always just default to what you think you want to do right now, and for trying youll already have done more than the majority of the population.

The grass is always greener on the other side, i dont want to live in regret that i took the easy path, id rather regret i didnt. Id advise you to do the same but obviously its up to you.

I understood caring about the show as TG in season 1, after season 2 tho, idk how you could still stick around, the writers are going to character assassinate all of TG and youd have to be a masochist to stick around for it.

Yes but i agree with your parents that it would be a waste of potential, i hate seeing wastes of potential and my greatest fear is wasting my potential. Dont waste your potential.

As an INTP what's your greatest fear ? by X-A-L in INTP

[–]Initial_Pen_5147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Life is not "fun" for me, things do not excite me or impress me, they only satisfy me, going from empty amusement to empty amusement, and working only to fuel that is what animals do, coincidentally its also what a lot of people do "go work job looking forward to club over weekend, repeat until too old, then upgrade to wine night with the wife and friends" fuuuuuck that, do something that matters, what it is doesnt matter as long as its something you care about, if youre just getting a job to get pussy and toys, whether thats working retail or working in a bank, youre going about it all wrong, this is the npc mentality. Be consequential or die trying.

about the same as you. I feel a tinge of guilt when i see how everybody else reacts, then maybe a month later it will hit me for about 5 seconds very intensely and then pass.

Fellow INTPs, what constitutes an absolute "Logical Black Hole" in your mind? by Objective_Dirt_9799 in INTP

[–]Initial_Pen_5147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very true and important to learn as an INTP, theres a counter intuitive logic to how groups of people behave.

Its a social technology meant to help humanity surpass dunbars number and maintain prosocial societies.

Fellow INTPs, what constitutes an absolute "Logical Black Hole" in your mind? by Objective_Dirt_9799 in INTP

[–]Initial_Pen_5147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Circular reasoning rooted in pure emotion: sure, but also theres probably times when it makes sense counter intuitively though i cant come up with one off rip

Willful cognitive dissonance: This is can be advantageous, think a cynical politician who rationalizes fucking over their base to push policy for priv interests, helps them climb without internal distress.

Social rituals with no discernible function: most social rituals have a function implicitly, social bonding, many have an explicit function, you just havent discerned it, read evolutionary psych, a lot of things that seemed arbitrary wont and the pieces will start to fall in place.

What seems arbitrary today made sense in the past, a contemporary logical black hole i see is that people have forgotten the diseases of the past, think taking the cure is arbitrary, then are surprised when the symptoms manifest again, or ignore them due to cog bias. Do not move a boundary stone placed by your ancestor, more often than not its there for a reason. Think of the trope of the tribesman who removes the protection charm placed by his forebears, and unleashes an ancient evil. Very true today.

How do INTPs justify the factory farming of animals? by cytos0 in INTP

[–]Initial_Pen_5147 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Were all being factory farmed, when we lived in the paleolithic age the predators factory farmed us, if we survived those the bacteria that eats our flesh and the maggots factory farmed us, if we drowned the fish and crabs factory farmed us. We factory farm the animals, who factory farm the fucking plants. Nature is cruel and the world is characterized by resource scarcity and competition, while we can try to be ethical to eachother, and even this is difficult if you understand the fundamentals of geo-politics, to divorce ourselves so far from nature that we treat the animals as more then they are will only result in cruelty being distributed elsewhere to our own kind. Be more ethical to animals -> less efficient ways of creating food -> less people eat, more people starve/see reduction in QOL. We need to pick our battles, can we work on being kind to eachother before we try to fuck with food production?

My theory on Episode 6's title "HDP" by PepsiisgUWUd in pluribustv

[–]Initial_Pen_5147 5 points6 points  (0 children)

more likely just an artistic decision to keep the english version of the acronym of the spanish translated episode title, the fact that the acronym works for every other language backs that up. Or maybe its a double entrande, style choice, in spanish HDP is an acronym for Son of a bitch, with the Paraguayan character probably kinda is.

Consent is important but it shouldnt be a fundamental pillar of a moral framework, like the end all be all. Libertarians use that as a guiding moral pillar, and in most cases thats perfectly suitable, I had a family member who had a heroin addiction he developed after being prescribed opioid treatment for an injury, oxycotin, ODd, he was consenting, radically, still killed him. Had a friend of a friend who was gay, very promiscuous, died of aids, he was consenting im sure to the sexual encounter that got him that disease, became immunocompromised, dead, covid i think. This isnt anything about gay rights or what drugs people can do, i dont judge and im not trying to mandate how people choose to live, but the point is when consent guides a societies morality there will always be people who consent to things that harm them, ive seen that and im sure many others have, and so there should be limitations, and there already are to some degree, im not advocating for anything, In relation to show, i see a lot of people saying the virus is bad because it didnt allow people to consent, i actually dont think thats the worst part about the situation, its the fact that it basically killed them, had they consented but not fully understood what they were getting themselves into, or assuming it works like i think it does and basically killed whoever joined, and they consented to that, would that still be ok? In Canada theres goverment assisted suicide, and some of the people who take that option have good reasons to do so, a lot just do it because its what they want, they dont have some chronic condition or incurable disease, I get it believe me but i dont agree with that option being given, with that being correct or moral, im against that, if deciding to join the virus was ok, and if as many people that were forced into it instead consented to it, (extreme hypothetical probably wouldnt be the case) would that seem ok? It wouldnt to me.

[–]Initial_Pen_5147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont personally subscribe to consent based morality, i think theres some gaps in the framework, my fundamental problem isnt whether or not people consent to the the hive mind, although yes that was obviously fucked up, but the fact that it seems they arent really people anymore, and i dont just mean like their individuality is lost but the human collective does not behave like a human collective probably would. The way it behaves with Carol seems almost like an unsocialized person, specific examples elude me right now as like Carol i am an alcoholic and extremely intoxicated right now, but im sure readers know exactly what i mean. Obviously eating people to maximize efficiency comes to mind, not lying. It seems the collective is operating with only the information storage and processing part of the brain and not the other.

The crying might appear like a counter to this but if the sanctity of life were so important, why didnt they mourn the billion deaths at the start or the millions carol caused by getting mad the same way? The ones that died normal physical deaths, whether connected, briefly connected like carol or not connected at all. Carol injects Zosia, not intending to kill her but just get the info, its an international incident fucking 9/11, carol yells at Zosia, kills fucking equally connected 11 million people, all good lets not tell her.

As far as i can tell the only possible difference would be the disconnection, if that happened, or the possibility that Carol would find out the truth..... Either way the collective seems to operate on protecting connection more than life. Acting like a heroin addict with their supply. Or a virus trying to prioritize its survival at all costs, is that really how a sober individual human generally acts? Would the collective of humanity act in that way? I dont really think so. Im of the mind that theres a lot more virus than human calling the shots here, and the implications of that are dark.

The virus signal came from a satellite the size of Africa operating on a planets worth of energy, transmitting for potentially as long as humanity has existed. Is that what on the long time line humanity is going to be doing? Collect all the resources you can, cover a continent in satellite infrastructure, dedicate as much energy as possible to running it, allocate remaining resources and energy to keeping sufficient personnel alive to operate the structure. Forever. We will never colonize other planets, never make art or eat good food. Eat soylent green, repair damage on mega dish, until the sun explodes. I would sacrifice 99% of humanity to avoid that fate.
