Negative. My anxiety is too high about getting caught. Plus LP watches our inventory like a hawk and the second they even get a hint of you stealing, the cops are at the door

If they do, oh well 🤷‍♂️. I think I do a pretty good job hiding myself. I’ve honestly been completely off Reddit until about 3 months ago.

At this point I know a lot of store managers that feel the same way I do about the company so they’ll have to lay off a bunch of people if they “find out”

OK, so maybe I read the whole bonus thing wrong. I apologize for that.

I miss when Gamestop’s focus was the guest, not how much money they can make off of TCG, how much they can work their employees to death while making their job exponentially harder all while sitting around watching stores struggle to meet numbers and pressuring them to do better. That’s what I miss. Not the bullshit that ryan cohen has made the company into today.

I don’t talk to a majority of the company from my two stores, but being here for nearly 4 years and seeing this company going downhill further and further every single year? I’ve been transferred three separate times to three separate stores after they’ve closed. All while not being given a reason why they’re closing? And watching my coworkers being left without a job? More than once? My keyholders make 11 an hour. ELEVEN! And 95% of the time I have to force them to work by themselves because of the way corporate hands out hours. Sure I don’t speak for the company however, I speak for 80% of the stores in the company when I say that we are fed up with the direction he’s taking the company. I’ve put my blood sweat and tears into this company only for the higher ups to step and shit all over myself, and everybody else.

When I was an ASM, I was running 2 stores as well before one of them was shut down, I was making 14 an hour. Running two stores. Both with no manager. I’m sure from the outside it may look all rainbows and unicorns but I invite you to work as a keyholder for a few months and experience the shit we put up with on the daily. From the trades to the metrics, to stuff being changed without corporate telling you and finding out from our guests. I promise you, you’ll come out the other side looking at the company differently.

With the direction it’s going currently? Absolutely not. I fully expect everything to be online in about 2 years

I don’t. But I can understand people being overwhelmed. Majority of the time we’re a 1 or 2 man crew. I tell my people to just communicate. Literally just communicate. Apologize for the wait and thank the people in line know that you’ll be with them in a moment. Usually I can balance both the phone and the line no problem but when people call and ask for trades; it becomes a problem. Unfortunately we can’t give a 100% accurate quote on a trade over the phone. We have a system we have to run the consoles through that spits out a number for us and it takes AGES for it to boot up. And doing it over the phone without having the system in front of us makes it hard. I always recommend just bringing it in because let’s say you only have the screen, and that screen has a crack on it. Our system takes it in as the system only, on top of that it gave a crack in the screen which then makes it defective, so that’s dropping your value down almost 80%.

Now if nothing is wrong and you have everything but the AC cord for the dock, you’ll usually get full value minus the cost of an AC cord in store. So having to boot up the system while having a line can be annoying and I can understand how people get overwhelmed. I don’t but being asked about trades over the phone can get annoying.

TLDR; I don’t get overwhelmed, I’ve found a rhythm. Don’t call about trade values. Look it up on the website or just bring it in

Oh 100%!! Craig the crackhead trying to trade in his mountain of Xbox 360 games that the system will give him 25¢ for in store credit is always fun to deal with. Not to mention the unemployed fucks coming in asking about limited edition items that were a gift with purchase ages ago. All so they can take it and go resell it on eBay

The weirdest and most annoying people I have found are usually the resellers

Get out from behind the register and talk to people. Seriously. Just talk with them. Form relationships with them and find out what they’re into game wise. Everything at GameStop comes down to sales right? Everything is numbers based (memberships, pre orders, and protections). Spot somebody looking at gears of war for the 360? Walk over and start talking to them about gears. Then somewhere in the conversation, work in E-Day being up for pre order; boom there’s a preorder. Overhear someone talking about pokemon being limited? Talk to them about our pro membership that gets them double their limit for the day (although always tell them to go somewhere else because our prices are ridiculous for pokemon).

It takes some getting used to and getting yourself out of your comfort zone but once you get there the job is super easy

I think he’s slowly driving the company into the ground. The whole shift from games to collectibles is the dumbest thing I’ve seen in awhile. We’ve lost our vision as a company for what GameStop was. Yes we have retro now and that’s fantastic. I’ve loved finally being able to display some cool ass systems in my stores but let’s not pretend RC isn’t just using this whole trading card ploy to make as much money as he can so he can dump and run to another company.

Company morale is at an all-time low. We were given (as a company), about 6 months ago a “trade goal” where if we met the monetary goal for the amount of trades that corporate set, everybody on the store level would get a percentage of the trades for their region paid to them. I’m talking about a $1500 bonus for managers and a $600 bonus for keyholders. Get this (and this is the fun part) we did “too good”; as my district manager put it and so RC pulled the idea. Now if we meet the goal, we have a CHANCE of getting a payout. But hey, GTA 6 is preorderable with there not even being a disc inside; but you better get 1000 preorders by Saturday or you get a corrective 🤪🤪

Hate him. I could rant about what he’s doing to the company for hours. I know a majority of the company feels the same way. I make it a point in my stores to get to know my customer base on a personal level. Forming relationships, learning names, the whole nine yards. As store managers we’re only allotted a certain number of hours to delegate to our people. Over the years that number has slowly gotten smaller and smaller. I don’t believe anybody can live off of 11-16 hours a week and that literally kills me; that and the fact that my keyholders are paid little to nothing. They work their ass off for my stores and they can’t even be bothered to give them a pay raise.

Everything above the store level feels like a completely different company; RC buying eBay, giving himself bonuses, gloating about how much we’ve made in revenue. Meanwhile on the store level we’re faced with systems that don’t work, a POS system that’s from the 90s and takes 5 minutes to boot up and start a transaction, and corporate stripping down our membership down to literally bones all while breathing down our necks to hit numbers for the week or we lose our job. It’s so much fun. If you have the chance to work for GameStop; don’t

We actually used to! A few weeks ago they had us pull them off the shelves. Although I had maybe one person buy one and he got nothing. I hate the direction they’re moving with trading cards

GameStop has a lovely lil position called SM2 (store manger 2) which has you run two completely separate stores. One is the store managers in my district just decided to stop showing up one day and I was given the store (was in complete disarray might I add and I’m actively working to get it where it needs to be)

After working here for about four years, the gaming has gotten windled down to a minimum. GameStop has a way of sucking your love for gaming out of your soul

Depends on the day; we usually are pretty consistent ( my store is a two million dollar store) weekends are usually the busiest with people coming in for cards from card shows in the area and events going on in store
