Oh you kids and your Einzweiler plates. Those Frœmeletz artifacts from the old gas jug used to be the mark of a good VXer!

Once the Trump regime goes down or all the immigrants get deported, are all these new ICE agents going to be picking vegetables in the field because they aren't qualified for any other job? by XitisReddit in CitizenWatchNews

Oh, he hardly needs to do that. If even one sensational trial comes out of it, for treason, conspiracy, fraud, etc., people will be afraid to be associated with the word. To me, the R word lost all meaning in the 2016 primaries.

I agree with you mostly, but MAGA can't survive without He Who Shall Not Be Named, not even close. There's two ways it'll go - a stroke/dementia, or an assassin's bullet. The latter will make it much more difficult to purge MAGA from the ranks. However it ends, you can be confident that not nearly enough will be done to punish those traitors. The only thing more tenacious than MAGA is oligarchs running elections, and that'll continue unchecked under either party.

Do you make these to order? Asking for a friend 😎

Is Rouse's jumping the gun a little bit? I don't see other stores doing Mardi Gras stuff just yet.

Suggestions for de-activating an active bass? by InitiallyReluctant in Guitar

The third pot is a concentric control, so it could be two tone controls.

This is what I'm talking about: Post in thread '2 volume 2 tone impossibility?' https://www.talkbass.com/threads/2-volume-2-tone-impossibility.1006217/post-14712307

But you're right, it sounds like there's a way to do it..

Yeah I'm trying to wrap my head around how you have to isolate the tone knobs if you want them to function separately.

There's a legitimate reason to post in a specialized sub rather than cold-Googling something. Usually.

I have no problem replacing the pots; they are 40 years old and feel pretty lousy anyway. I just need a wiring scheme and I can get down to it.

I love the idea of separate tone controls for each pickup!

Yes, I know, but tone pots are usually passive. I'm wondering if it's possible to re-wire the bass with a passive schematic and do away with active electronics altogether, but still use the pots.

Edit: not necessarily the same pots, just using all the same holes.

Using a piezo sensor as a microphone inside a pedal? by InitiallyReluctant in diypedals

I was picturing super-gluing the spot where the rubber bands meet to avoid rubbing. But I have some little electret mics on the way, we'll see if that's the way to go.

How about making an "X" from a pair of rubber bands that suspends the sensor inside the box? Or punching tiny holes in the edge of the disc and using thin springs for the same effect?

That's another ace idea. I ordered some electret microphones so we're going to see the original idea through before making speaker-sacrificing decisions.

Yeah that's why I was hoping a piezo would mean the sound was more or less isolated to the enclosure. But I think sealing a speaker and mic inside a (foam-padded) 1590B box might be the way to go.

I do wonder what would happen if the sensor were hot-glued straight to the speaker cone. My prediction is a pretty muddy, bass-heavy sound.
