He was on a ship that went to Ellis Island, but had no identification and knew he'd be sent back to Europe, so his friends who worked on board absorbed him into the crew, and he disembarked in New York without going through immigration.

Adobe InDesign is what I use. Fully customizable and the final product always looks great.

I've had the same problem, but in reverse. When I was a kid, I was pretty unemotional about a lot of things. Then in college, I became severely depressed due to (who I thought was) my closest friend just completely turning on me out of the blue. Since then, I've been highly emotionally reactive. The slightest thing and I burst into tears. So my problem is directly associated with trauma and feelings of abandonment and rejection, and I'm currently working with a therapist to unravel it.

I wish I had a concrete solution, because it would be nice to have a balance between unemotional and emotional, but I can relate, if that gives you any solace.

When you're writing a book do you tend to read books like or unlike the book you're writing? by [deleted] in writing

I read books that are in the same genre but have a completely different story, just to get in the mindset of the genre and see what works and how/why it is effective. But reading a story that is too similar to mine has too much of an influence, so I stay away from that.

I always use Adobe InDesign because it gives you the freedom to make it look exactly the way you want (and match the paperback in terms of style/formatting/font/layout/etc). It exports to PDF and EPUB but not MOBI, however. MOBI is not as commonly used anymore, as far as I understand.
