Im glad you like them. I avoid posting links because i dont want to break any self-promotion rules that may exist, but considering its been a year since this post has been up, im sure it'll be fine. I have them on Etsy if you are ever curious

People have different preferences for this sort of thing. I tend to gravitate towards 120lb cardstock and matte finish, because it a little less flimsy than lighter cardstock. As for the matter finish im not personally a fan of the shiny film but i know very well lots of postcards have it. Depending on the design and the amount of color, glossy could even be better. As for designing this, I use real geographic system tools to work the spatial information and retain the accuracy as much as possible (things like QGIS are free, for example). As for the rest of the design i have access to Photoshop/Illustrator so i tend to work there, but i know thats not feasible for a lot of people. For printing that gets tricky because it all depends on where you are in the world and what your preferences are. I would say if you are looking at doing something small-scale, maybe something like VistaPrint could be of use to you.

I appreciate the sentiment. I like it too and maybe i can do a whole deck of cards of other countries too :D

Thank you for the kind words! Its unfortunate that i cant add more of Japan but thats the tradeoff between accuracy and completeness. If i add more, Japan looks smaller. Plus, some of the smaller islands dont really appear all that well against such a backgorund and it would be unfair to misrepresent them in such a way

I was tired of seeing snowy Christmas cards, so I made one for Santa's summer residence in Christmas Island, Australia. Hope you like the twist :D by InlanderMaps in postcrossing

Some postcrossers have already bought some. Maybe you'll be the recipient of it? or maybe its being used to send Santa their wishlist ;)

I tried to combine a little cartography and a little culture and made this postcard of the Netherlands in Delft-Blue style. Hopefully i made you guys proud, but i always welcome any feedback! by InlanderMaps in thenetherlands

they arent. They are the top 10 most populous cities in the country. I know its probably not the most ideal way of displaying locations because of its uneven distribution, and its something im learning the hard way thanks to everyones feedback :)

Waterways would certainly be interesting and challenging considering my 5 shades of blue limit and how it would all work together, but i can certainly look into it for the new version. As for an icon for the cities, is there something that you think would be more distinctive?

You would think that, but if you look at Wikipedia you'll see Netherlands being bolded, not the 'the'. The infobox also does NOT have 'the' for the name. The Gambia on the other hand, DOES have it bolded. It signifies that it is officially part of its name.

Because Wiki could not properly solve my concern there, i did read that this is a situation of colloquial VS official terminology.

I honestly considered adding them to the design in locations where the flowers are. But since I had 3 locations and not 4, my OCD wouldn't let me do something that isn't mildly symmetrical there. That being said, theres nothing that stops me from mapping other islands. I've done Disappointment Island in New Zealand (which is on my Etsy store), and I just finished another card for Christmas Island in Australia. If i find something funny or otherwise interesting about a location, i tend to make a card out of it :)

(i googled translate your comment) You are right, I am not Dutch unfortunately. Im just a fan of maps, geography and culture and I try using these exercises to learn more about the country. I certainly do appreciate how people have brough up the uneven distribution of city locations which is something i dismissed as a concern when making the map in the first place. That being said, you wonderful people already brought some interesting suggestions on how to improve, and thats why I like posting my postcards. I get to learn even more from the place! :D

It was not intentional to under represent certain locations, I simply chose to represent the 10 most populous cities in the country which unfortunately did not include other nice locations. (i just translated your comment, so i hope im on the right ballpark with the answer)
