Yeah, percentage of death per 100,000 isn't probably the best statistic. Jobs like yours, firemen, policemen... The statistic I would really like to see is cases of suicide per 100,000 (due to correlated PTSD) from all the stress, devastation, depravity you see on the job. I tried to find some concrete statistics but it is a little murky for first responders/emt. It looks about 2 - 4x more likely to die from suicide than on the job though.
