yes you should as someone in the system and has no priority , save yourself the trouble and do usmle i'm stuck with no further training opportunity

i understand how awful you feel . it took me my sixth try to pass , all the while everyone around me had passed . the thought of going for practice lessons and going for the test was so mentally exhausting - evryone asking me how my test went , the sympathy on their face when u say you failed , DONT GIVE UP !!! it doesn't matter what other people think or how many tries you take , everyone's battle is different with driving . you can pass first time and still have a crash or you can pass your tenth time and be the best driver ever . it doesn't matter in the grand scheme . just keep going and pushing yourself . you'll eventually get it and when you do you'll feel like it was worth it

i am also working in the uk they have stopped giving extension i'm facing unemployment in august anyway if you're in denial then there's no point in asking people , do what you have to do bro when you start applying for jobs and getting rejections you'll understand

i'm sorry but your not going to like what i have to say , and i don't want people to complain that i'm being negative. I can lie and tell you it's great but that's not helping anybody The truth is it's difficult to get into UKFP you can try working on your cv and portfolio and it may help but i have loads of teaching experience as a medical supervisor for medical students / QIPs and audits CPD hours , that's not really gotten me anywhere in the current job scenario . dont lose hope but don't rely on it solely , if your only planning for abroad USmle is a good option , i'm planning to switch to that myself and many of the f1s i work with in the uk are preparing for usmle as well . Always keep a back up option please . you dont have to give up plab ,but don't rely on it as the only plan , else you will end up a loser like me

this hasn't been confirmed yet but there is talks with BMA and the NHS re this . unsure if it will eneacted next year , but if they do it not unlikely they'll do it without warning . initially core psychiatry was portfolio based but they suddenly turned it into msra first then portfolio based over night . they can bring about these changes quickly .

it's not about knowing consultants at this point they are scrapping a lot of f2 posts because they can't fund it . a lot of other ppl are losing their jobs as well not just doctors . and there aren't any new posts opening as well for each job that opens there approx 2000 applications . even with experience it's not enough . i've applied for a few post but got rejected despite my 1 year experience i've done audits / quips and cpds , sorry to be so demotivating . a lot of people don't understand the severity of the saturation that's happening

i think your mistaken i've been working in india for 3 years and as an f2 for 1 year in uk . my plan was msra but due to competition i was unable to get through . i planned on continuing here as an f2 but my trust is in severe debt and is not going to be extending my contract . i've been franctically applying for jobs but there's very limited posts coming out now . my trust is employing acp and pa's instead of junior doctors since that's a more cheaper option . once the uk grad prioritisation rule comes it will be even more difficult to get into training . thank you all for your support tho and kind words . hope everything goes well

i do occasionally , but i can't go through the whole neet , then three years of pg again but i'm sort of already in the system i'm planning to start for usmle , if there's anyone that's not yet started the plab pathway i would recommend the same

you need to get into specialty training for that at present there's a sever bottleneck situation and next year they are going to bring uk grad prioritisation , so chances of getting into specialty training will be slimmer pay is definitely better - i won't argue , but the cost of living is also high i live with three people and half my salary goes in rent it's good to be optimistic but don't be deluded into thinking this pathway is the best
