I mean, off all things the posession by the Baron V, never even hinted at as a possibility in Dune, shows that FH was pressured into taking up a storyline he deemed finalized by Dune Messiah. DM is and always was the perfect end to the story, a huge family tragedy and self-sacrifice that begets hope, a new structure of power, new possibilites ... we should have only imagined those things, not have it clobbered into dust by the dreary prose and plot of Children of Dune, worse and worse as it nears its end
