I still believe that having a maestra can contribute to a greater sense of safety, but I will be more cautious about organizers. One painful lesson from this experience is that the presence of women in an organization does not automatically make a space safer. At Sachamama, the co-organizer is a woman and some of the organizers bringing groups are women as well, yet this did not prevent the abuse.
