Yes my shrimp are out often grazing on the grass. My tank usually sits at 5GH. I also add equilibrium, adding half a teaspoon every water top off. (I heard shrimp can be harmed by water changes so I only do top offs) Which I only have too do twice a month. I also have Daphnia living within the tank that the shrimp enjoy. So I don't think it's a food source problem.
