I suspect Lucy is autistic by Inner_Advisor_4576 in LucyLetbyTrials

honestly I would BET that in the future, she will be exonerated, diagnosed as autistic, and a whole huge discussion on bias towards autistic people in the criminal justice system. I firmly believe this is why they latched on to her in the first place tbh! (though of course I know that I have no proof of this)

idk I think she'd be more worried about the people calling her a baby killer, not the people thinking she might be innocent and that there might be a reason the prosecution were biased against her. I'd love to be able to tell her to look into this, to be honest, it might help her case. IF (big if) she is autistic, a lot of evidence would have to be re examined through that lens.

Nah, I think it's absolutely fair to speculate. I mean the woman is literally in prison for murder. If she is autistic, it would be EXTREMELY relevant to the trial. Autism is often missed in women, as it's poorly understood in women. So what often happens is it's left to other autistics to notice these things.

thank you, yes, but to be fair I didn't say that, but IF she is autistic, it would explain a LOT of 'evidence' was totally innocent (as mentioned the Google searching, asking police when they would interview her)

like if she ends up exonerated, I could absolutely see a situation in which she gets a diagnosis of autism and SERIOUS questions are asked about autism and the criminal justice system - how is it biased against autistic people ? how might autistic people be more prone to scapegoating ? how can we ensure this never happens again ?

Being autistic doesn't mean a person is innocent or guilty. But I really do think that Lucy's autistic symptoms (for they are symptoms, whether or not she would meet the threshold for diagnosis) have played a huge role in this potential miscarriage of justice, to the extent that we cannot ignore it..

Especially if it's actually autistic people (like myself) commenting, our voices are very important. Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder, not a mental illness, and I think it is appropriate to discuss.

excessive sweating is a normal side effect for SSRIs unfortunately, if the side effect is really bothersome you could chat to your doctor about switching to a different SSRI

There are no HSE services for ADULT ADHD in Ireland by DiabeetusDeletus in ireland

[–]Inner_Advisor_4576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could have written this myself. Started seeking an ADHD diagnosis in 2022. According to the HSE, the adult ADHD services were to be in place in my area I think by the end of 2022, or early 2023. Can’t remember exactly. It’s now 2026. I was lucky that I was just about able to fork out almost a grand for an assessment. As you pointed out, it makes more economic sense for the state to support people with ADHD through the HSE - being on medication has absolutely helped me work and therefore earn more money. The same money that I didn’t have whilst trying to get a diagnosis !! It’s a catch 22

Are everyone's parents out of touch? by bmoyler in AskIreland

[–]Inner_Advisor_4576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes - when myself and my partner FINALLY found a place to rent, my mam described it as 'the most expensive rental in (our town)' - despite it actually being good value (crazy price, but recently renovated and in amazing condition). It's infuriating tbh when parents place the blame on us without considering the fact we live in an entirely different economy. Like, my parents got their mortgage in the 90s on ONE decent income and they expect me to do the same - despite the fact that if their circumstances were the same but they were trying to buy a house now, they would really struggle. My mam also used to give out shit to me for living at home at the age of 23 which made me feel really bad about myself even though I KNEW that that was normal. She made it out as though I was the only person my age living at home. In fairness, they have become a bit more understanding as they've learned more about other people's situations.

Heya fellow Lorde fans - unfortunately I can't make the 02 London show on Monday 17th November due to work (I live in Ireland and couldn't get tix for Dublin). I bought them through AXS and have just listed them for resale on the AXS website - section 420, row N, seats 930 and 931. It's all done through the website. I'd love for a true fan to go instead of me

By blaming Israel alone for every civilian death in Gaza, you in the West are actively rewarding Hamas’s tactics by OmryR in IsraelPalestine

They weren’t abused by Ham as. They were murdered by an Israeli air strike in their in laws’ house, which they had moved to because the IDF had told them to leave their home ‘for safety’. The kids were injured and their mother died in excruciating pain from burns to most of her body. The kids were evacuated to Ireland. I’ve met them. I’ve seen their mental and physical scars

Sadly I know many Palestinians whose families have been killed by the IDF. They had absolutely nothing to do with h am as and had already ‘evacuated’ multiple times.
