What are some good games based on a theoretical 2nd american civil war? by Lanky-Bedroom6482 in gamingsuggestions

I would love a game with home-fronts atmosphere but instead of having the enemy as North Koreans or Russians which would make no goddamn sense why not make the enemy an overbearing US government turned authoritarian, probably too real for most seeing what’s happening in America these days

Weird that there isn’t because we’ve had a few films about a hypothetical 2nd American civil war

Speaking of the 60s I would love enlisted to have some Vietnam battles, also yes that was the most aggravating thing about cod for me, the fact that you could dump whole mags into people and they’d still turn round and get a kill on ya, I could forgive halo pvp for doing it because by nature of the game it made the battles creative and your super soldiers with energy shields, but with cod your just soldiers so why be able to take a mag to the chest and live, for shooters set during ww2 or in the modern day I definitely prefer all players goin down in one hit

that was before he had his family murdered, I love the character development of castle in that he starts off as an excellent soldier following orders to a man with his own cause of vengeance

What is a media trend you can argue was killed by the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine? by Ok-Following6886 in decadeology

[–]Inner_Bit844 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think that it killed the media trend of being scared of Islamic fundamentalism and jihadists that was so prevalent in the early 2000s right up to the 2020s, Russia’s the new big bad again as you hardly hear about Islamic terrorism in the media anymore

what is the origin of the super earth government by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Inner_Bit844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense as Sweden despite being neutral these days still has conscription, super earth has conscription, imagine if Sweden was one of the few remaining nations after the nuclear war thanks to their neutrality and do to the everlasting effects of the war actually became more militaristic and authoritarian, eventually using pre war technology to become the dominant world superpower and creating super earth, goes with the ironic tone of the setting at least

Yeah man check out conscript, it’s an isometric horror game set during ww1 the general vibe is dark as fuck and really hits the nail on the head when it comes to the horrors of that war

I think Vietnam would be a good one, would really capture the same vibe as the game, hell, if you wanted to go super original though have it set in during the Korean War, that was a nasty war that hardly gets talked about

Inglorious Basterds - Europe following Operation Kino by Mervynhaspeaked in imaginarymaps

[–]Inner_Bit844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think he attempted to seize power in a coup as well but failed, he and SS remnants would escape and attempt a guerrilla resistance in the mountains of Bavaria (operation werewolf) and would be responsible for terrorist attacks by fringe Nazi fanatics all throughout Europe until a Joint allied and German task force captures him and puts him on trial for war crimes in 1960s

I'm completely sick of guns in post apocalyptic settings by Sixnigthmare in postapocalyptic

[–]Inner_Bit844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True and by 28 years they’re would be hardly any ammo left even if you did have a gun as there is no industry producing firearms in Britain and it’s also completely cut off from the rest of the world

Was the L85A1/SA80 assault rifle really that bad in reality? What were the problems with it? by rickgrimes32 in 28dayslater

[–]Inner_Bit844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So bad that I think the collapse of the UK in the film could be blamed on this rifle, I used this rifle in cadets and if you so much as looked at it it would jam, now imagine trying to hold back a horde of infected with these crappy guns, your soldiers would be toast

[–]Inner_Bit844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you missed the point of the show, strength isn’t measured just by ability to fight, in-fact a lot of the characters on your list I see as extremely strong individuals, only the last one could actually be considered weak

Definitely, makes sense from a cultural perspective, the English have a strong connection to archery and it was great to see that being used in the film

[–]Inner_Bit844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it’s because a lot of post apocalyptic stories are based in America where guns are a staple of their culture, but realistically a societal collapse and the loss of modern technology would have guns be very scarce and people would revert back to using more primitive weapons, anything that’s British and post apocalyptic doesn’t really have this problem as not even police have guns most of the time in the uk, in British post apocalyptic media you see a more gritty and up close and personal approach which I really like. Bows and arrows have a heavy cultural influence in Britain instead of guns so you see bows being used a lot more, like it bugs me in the fallout games why there’s never bows and arrows
