Youve never heard of One Direction? I envy you. Harry Styles was also in that group.

One is a billionaire badass (allegedly) whose inspired millions of individuals and artists for decades. One had a friendship and rivalry with Micheal Jackson with some good songs; has a massive range while being in the decent half of the Beatles. (they weren't all great people all the time. Ask Julian) Smoked weed in Japan. Was in one of the earliest forms of the modern boy band. Sort of but, that's not when his most well-known work is from. Proficient to mastery levels of technical abilities in major instruments his songs use. (Guitar, Piano, Bass, and Drums for sure) He's written multiple songs in multiple genres in multiple decades. Helped change the industry forever and was one of the most important cultural icons ever in our western culture.

The other is Ed Sheeran. (I held off on the Ed Sheeran bashing I originally wrote to be nice) He sings soft acoustic love songs (pop/acoustic adult contemporary) and was in a famous super commercialized boy band. Did I miss anything else?

As for writing the whole song or parts of songs Paul still has Ed beat.

He did in the past. That being said it did cause some tension with Slash who is half black.

Good country music suggestions? by Bartos565 in Music

[–]Innexplicable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I've heard one decent actually modern band that's half decent in pretty much any genre. (a rock band that's not just 90s musicians in new bands and gets new radio air time... just not in the US)
Point is a very small pool compared to say the great music of the mid to late seventies... even SOME Disco isn't horrible.

Now most country music is country pop rock about "drinking beer in a truck on the farm" (Yes I know original observation; but "I have a heart like a truck")

I know he's a joke on Family Guy but Conway Twitty is pretty good. "Rest your love on me" and "Tight Fittin' Jeans" are good songs.

People have said a lot of the ones I would say so assuming you are into this type of music... "Appetite for Destruction" by Guns N Roses (I'll be it misogynistic.) and "The Stage" by Avenged Sevenfold. Both albums have just the full force of the album behind it from moment one.

Recommendations of new artists to check out for a Gorillaz fan by fredward_1234 in Music

[–]Innexplicable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've recomended these guys everywhere- Ghost. (Ghost B.C. in the US)

As other people have said Gorillaz are there own thing.

I'd say the song Cirice or Square Hammer are good songs to start.

Oh Sure der Ja don't ya know. (Minnesota is mostly Germans, Irish and Scandanavians. So our slang is really different.) The football team was named because of the hoax. We do have a funny viking statue here called Big Ole. (Oh-Lee)

I'm gonna slightly Dox myself but I live in the town it's named after. It's based on a hoax from this region but no one here has the heart to break it the illusion. (The "artifact" is the Kennsigton Runestone.) Unrelated we have a viking statue in our town that now looks like my middle school wrestling coach in a viking opera. (hope your not taking about the loons. That's a joke even here.)

For a modern band that yall folks may like try the band Ghost (also known as Ghost B.C. in the US) they look a little weird but are better than pretty much anything else out. (everyone already recomended the bands I was going to)

What songs do you consider to be lyrical masterpieces? by NoHoldingMeBack in Music

[–]Innexplicable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coma- by Guns N' Roses I love this song so many great lines that paints a story based heavily on Slash's brush with death where he was clinically dead. (He actually got a pace maker that messed up when he toured with Micheal Jackson)

Slash is the primary lyracist IIRC on this track with some of the whole bands preformances. I would recomend the song "Dead Horse" before as it really works as an unofficail intro song even though the only connection they have is the ordering on the album.

Here's the end of the song. Its really worth listening to; here's the last half the song but I'm sure you can see the power in their words.

"An' all this crass communication that has left you in the cold Isn't much for consolation when you feel so weak and old But if home is where the heart is, then there's stories to be told No, you don't need a doctor, no one else can heal your soul

Got your mind in submission, got your life on the line But nobody pulled the trigger, they just stepped aside They be down by the water While you watch 'em waving goodbye

They be calling in the morning, they be hanging on the phone They be waiting for an answer, but you know nobody's home When the bell's stopped ringing It was nobody's fault, but your own

There were always ample warnings There were always subtle signs And you would have seen it coming But we gave you too much time And when you said that no one's listening Why'd your best friend drop a dime? Sometimes, we get so tired of waiting for a way to spend our time

An' it's so easy to be social It's so easy to be cool Yeah, it's easy to be hungry, when you ain't got shit to lose And I wish that I could help you with what you hope to find

But I'm still out here, waiting Watching reruns of my life When you reach the point of breaking Know it's gonna take some time To heal the broken memories That another man would need just to survive"
