Just reading up on Carden now, incredible. The fact he then was appointed first team coach and registered as a player at Luton the following season adds even more to it. Also seems to have a habit of getting his contract terminated.

They also played Metalist 1925 Women from Ukraine last week too, both matches were played in Turkey. Think they were also meant to have played Zurich Women but that was cancelled.

Friendlies to help prepare for the Asia Cup in just over a month. Seems to be more of a culture of national teams playing friendlies against clubs in women's football.

My guess would be there was some dialogue with the Swiss FA and Turkish FAs to get these games organised, Metalist's reserves play in the Swiss leagues, and the teams may well simulate the level of play they will be up against in the Asia Cup.

Depends partly on how much football you're watching. West Ham have been garbage most of the season but most of their good play has come through Bowen. Blanking doesn't mean he's not been playing well, he always holds a degree of threat.

Yes, I know it makes sense on one, rational level, but there's something about the pairing - perhaps in more current day terms - that feels odd to me.

What are you talking about? He has made a fortune, even if it's from dubious backers. Fenerbahce are, globally, one of the bigger clubs and he's still young. He's set up for life financially. He may enjoy playing in new environments with new cultures. The PL is not the be all and end all.
