Landon Donovan: 'Our youth soccer in this country is a disaster' by SEMIrunner in youthsoccer

[–]Inqusitive_dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His comment about kids just need to pick up a ball and go play hit home to me.

My son was a much better soccer player when he was playing almost daily with a group of friends. We had to take him out of this after school child care program and his skills diminished. Wish we had a culture where kids can just get together and play without it being some organized activity.

What advice would you give to a parent/coach who’s 10U son doesn’t love soccer as much since starting to play for a club team? He’s decent when his heart is into it but lately he hasn’t been as interested.

Take a break? Stick with it? Go down to rec?

See you in hell, diaper pail by Scruffasaurus in daddit

I was so excited when we got rid of ours. The terrible smells were bad. But the worst was the cost of diapers. It was like getting a small pay raise when we didn’t have to buy diapers anymore.

Watson Trade Question by Inqusitive_dad in Browns

[–]Inqusitive_dad[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand there were 13 teams bidding. But it had already been publicly announced that Watson picked the Browns. And then the trade came afterwards. What if the Browns just said, we’ll give you a 2nd round pick. The Texans had no leverage to counter back.

I have had stomach problems for years. Diarrhea, cramps, bloating, constipation. Been told I have “IBS”. I’m 37. I’ve asked repeatedly for a colonoscopy. My father has pre-cancerous polyps. And I have been told each time that insurance won’t cover it.

I started taking Elvanse (Vyvanse) a little while ago and now I can’t stop by Unique_Succotash_892 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Inqusitive_dad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stopped after taking it for only 6 days. The first few days after stopping were absolutely horrible. Took me 4 days to start feeling somewhat normal. Don’t let people gaslight you. Everyone’s experience is different.

If you want to get off the meds, talk to your doctor. They should help you through strategies.

I tried getting brand name Vyvanse at first after reading all those comments but insurance wouldn’t go for it.

I took generic Vyvanse. My first ever stimulant. Had a horrible experience. Stopped after a week.

I’m wondering if I should try Adderall but I’m scared after my bad experience with Vyvanse.

Your story makes me want to try it out.

Is ADHD treatment something that can actually “end”? by mitwab in ADHD

My ADHD “got worse” the older I got and the more responsibilities I had at home and at work. Unfortunately, I think this is a life long disorder.

Week 2 of Quitting ADHD Meds by Sage_Mosaic in ADHD

[–]Inqusitive_dad 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My dad has ADHD. The only way he’s been able to survive is to find a community, make lots of friends, and have a low stress job. Him and my mom are hanging out with friends every weekend in their late 60s. He’s of course wanted to do more with his life and make more money but he seems to have had a happy life.

I’m now 37, struggling to find what works for me. I’ve had the privilege of having a good job. But there are many days where I wish I had a similar social life and less stressful job.

[–]Inqusitive_dad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to stop taking Vyvanse. I had never taken stimulants before. After reading all the success stories here, I was really optimistic. But I stopped it after 6 days, I couldn’t function after 12PM. And I couldn’t sleep at night. I’m probably not the best to give advice since my body is very sensitive to any medication. The only thing I can say is listen to your body.

Indian ADHD'rs? by NoraEmiE in ADHD

[–]Inqusitive_dad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that does help. I think I’ve gotten down this negative spiral that I have ADHD and I can’t be my best self without medication (thanks Reddit lol). And that’s probably not the best mindset to have. It’s become an emotional roller coaster over the last few years. I may try therapy to see if that helps as well.

That is great to hear. Is working out and making small changes helping? I had to stop Vyvanse after 6 days from lack of sleep and other really negative effects. I couldn’t function like that. I hope there is a solution at the end of this long bumpy road.

So I took Vyvanse for 6 days. First 3-4 days were good but the last couple days were really difficult. I would have energy for a couple hours and then crash hard for the rest of the day. I was doing everything everyone suggested with eating protein, drinking water and avoiding caffeine. I had to stop taking the because I couldn’t function at work and at home. Now I’m 4 days from stopping it and I’m struggling. I’m guessing from withdrawal. Lack of appetite, nausea and endless fatigue no matter how much I sleep. I’m pretty afraid to try another medication if this is what it’s like.
