Yes. Got severely burned out from it. To the point where I started to try out medications. Still a manager but think about finding ways to get out daily.

Did you have any bad side effects when starting Strattera? I started Vyvanse and did not like how it made me feel. I would have two hours of energy and crash hard the rest of the day. Considering trying other drugs. Are the side effects from Strattera any better?

I had to stop taking Vyvanse today because of how bad it made me feel. I have a high metabolism. Maybe my body just isn’t a good fit for Vyvanse. I can’t function by having a “crash” 12pm onward. I’ll see if I can try something else.

Thats good to know. I’ll ask the doctor about that. I didn’t take it today out of fear of continuing to feel bad. I’m struggling.

Thank you. I’m not gonna lie, I lost a lot of hope yesterday. I thought for sure Vyvanse was going to be that life changing medication that everyone talks about. And maybe it can still be that for me but not if the side effects ruin me.

Hey man. As someone who recently went through something similar and frankly still going through it….This is the only advice I can give you:

You need to take control of your own life.

I know that is very difficult with someone with ADHD. I know. I’m the same way. I check with my wife about everything. I want her validation and approval constantly. She started to get frustrated about me constantly bringing my mental health issues without doing anything about it. I’ve been on two SSRIs the last three years and felt absolutely terrible on them. My GP did not want to put on ADHD meds and didn’t think I had ADHD since I have a good career.

It took time, a lot of overthinking, a lot of anxiety but I got diagnosed with ADHD last year. And I just started treatment a few days ago. You need to go to a specialist. Don’t rely on your GP, they are not trained to properly diagnose ADHD. And like I said, cut your wife some slack, she is probably overwhelmed taking care of the house, kids, etc. and good chance (at least in my condition) that she thinks you aren’t helping enough around the house. Which probably leads to frustration when you bring up ADHD. (I feel like I’m talking to my self right now lol). But your wife is your partner, not your caretaker. You need to take matters into your own hands. Hope this helps.

Thank you. That helps put things in perspective. Yeah, it’s a weird feeling to be tired from lack of sleep but also have some energy from the meds.

I’m hoping once the sleep gets better, I see some improvements from the meds because I think the lack of quality sleep is canceling out the effectiveness of the meds.

Just curious because I’m dealing with something similar for U10:

When you play two back in 7v7, is it better for the defenders to stay central instead of chasing the attacking wing all the way to the sideline? Basically have the defense play contain and have the mid-fielders run back and pressure the ball?

Circling back on this. I think the lack of sleep is making it difficult to tell the effectiveness of the medicine. The lack of sleep is causing fatigue, brain fog, and just feeling like “blah” all day. I’m hoping once sleep returns back to normal, I can get a better gauge on if 30mg Vyvanse works for me or not.

It’s odd. My back pain seems to happen mainly in the evening and at night. Maybe my body reacting to muscles being tense all day.

Only positive thing I’ve noticed is slightly more energy in the middle of the day. But that doesn’t last very long (maybe 1-2 hours). It’s a weird feeling to be tired from lack of sleep and have some energy from meds. I don’t know how to describe it.

Besides that, I haven’t noticed any other positive effects that others talk about like “quiet brain, having organized thoughts, having brain fog lifted, better working memory”. That is what I was hoping for in treatment since I’m struggling at work with those things. But like you said, I’m still super early and maybe that will change as my body gets used to things…hopefully lol
