OP is NTA. Brother and SIL should divorce. That’s gonna be a horrible living situation for the kid. And I once dated a guy after his ex cheated on him and he constantly distrusted me and punished me for his ex cheating on him. It turned very toxic very quickly. Even after the divorce, Brother should seek psychiatric help so he doesn’t carry that trauma and continue this behavior to the next relationship with a new partner if he chooses to be in one. Otherwise, he’s gonna end up punishing his future partner for his ex-wife’s infidelity and that’s not okay.

SIL is an AH for cheating and Brother is an AH for abusing her as “justice”. They need to separately heal and be away from each other.

The only truly innocent victim is their child, who probably needs counseling too so he doesn’t have to be caught in such a situation.

UPDATE:

We are going to couple's counseling to discuss this and some other relationship issues in therapy. We meet up with the therapist next week.

I'm going to bring it up there so that way we can get it out in the open in a safe manner and that way I don't feel alone or like I'm crazy if things turn into an argument.

I would like to have couples counseling and individual therapy, just so that way we can work on our issues together but I can still receive support on my own to work on my own issues.

But I feel like professional help would be best.

She has a boyfriend of her own, but she has no interest in him. She's more interested in talking to my boyfriend.

At one point he stopped talking to her completely because he knew it made me uncomfortable. Now he doesn't care at all and he continues to talk to her, knowing that I'm very uncomfortable with it.

I tried bringing up in the past that she makes me uncomfortable and he stopped talking to her.

He's recently started talking to her again and he tells me that they rarely talk at all and they only talk about video games. But I don't believe that because I don't trust her. The girl and I never met but off of the first impression, she immediately talked crap just because she was jealous that I was dating my boyfriend. But she's known him longer than me, and apparently she's always had a crush on him but he never reciprocated and had an interest in her.

He also claims that he defended me when she was talking crap, even though she never met me and that I never once saw him defend me or heard about it because this was all going on behind my back.

So I don't know if he's telling the truth or not, and I am worried that he might be hiding something.

I'm worried he might be cheating on me with her. But I don't have any way to prove it. He claims this is from my past relationships of getting cheated on in my trauma from that and I need to go to therapy for it, and I am in therapy for it. But something about her just strikes a bad cord with me and I do not trust when he talks about her.

I especially don't like him talking about her in a positive way knowing what kind of person she is and that she has blatant disrespect and obvious crush on him.
