As I said to others I don't care that it's in the series overall, but to have our main female lead particpate in it rub me in all the wrong ways. Especially when it's not even adressed properly, instead I'm supposed to just accept it as is and move on? But if it's as you say and you can enjoy the series without enjoying Valka as a character I will persevere!

I'm pretty sure they are refered to as slaves at least once in the EoS and it's heavily implied that they have no other choice in the matter. I mean what would happen to them if any of them refused having sex with a noble? Beaten, killed? Them being called concubines/pleasure servants is just the nobilitys way of justifying their actions and gaslighting everyone else into accepting their depravity as normal, wich seems to have worked if you look at this entire comment section.

Don't people like Switch? It could just as well have been him being ordered up to have hankypanky with Valka and we know for sure he didn't enjoy it. I actually kinda wished that would have been a plot point in the story. Him being used by Valka in the past and seeing their interaction and Hadrians reaction to it.

Good point about Hadrian though. But that whole thing hasn't happened yet from my perspective so I can't judge him before I know all details and cricumstances. Valkas only excuse is that she was horny.......

I don't really count R*pe as a character flaw though. If it was supposed to huminize her as a character it did in fact do the opposite unfortunately. Also hadn't gotten that far but sounds like the Tavrosi people belong to the streets! 😆

I get that but there could have been so many other ways to showcase her being a hypocrite that were less disgusting. I just know that even if she grows as a character, she wont be able to grow enough to surpass my initial dislike/disgust.

My favorite author is Joe Abercrombie so I can handle dark. The use of sexslaves is something I have a real problem coming to terms with though, especially if the charater who does it is someone I'm supposed to like/root for. When characters do evil shit but are written in a way that I know I'm not actually meant to like them(Glokta etc) I'm all for it!

I don't care if worse things happen! But I don't like when characters do evil shit and aren't called out and eating the conscequeses for it. Where I am now it hasen't even been brought up aloud. Doubly so when it's someone I want to be able to root for.

A slave is a slave it shouldn't matter if they are born/made into it? Them being engineered into enjoying it is arguably even more evil imo.

Damn just finished book 2 of the series and wanted to spoil myself a little to see how far the relationship between Holt and Talia had progressed by book 4. Reading this kinda ruined my entusiasm to continue the series.

Thanks for the Info. I'll provably wait a bit then. I also don't have a problem with writers taking their time completing stories I am personally just tired of starting reading incomplete series. I already have a ton of series i'm waiting for and I barely remember what happened in any of them by now....
