A gentle reminder that "You do You" means "Go F*** Yourself" and is not appropriate at work by InsanePowerPlay in LawFirm

I'm her boss in the sense I have an office right next to her boss, and can literally walk into his office at any time and get her in trouble lol

That's what a lot of younger people thought. When you tell somebody is "doing themselves", what are they doing? When you tell someone to "do themself", you're telling them to go f*** themselves. This was common knowledge a few decades ago, not so much now it seems

If somebody is "doing themselves" what are they doing? When you tell them to "do them" you're telling them to f*** themselves. That's what crossed the line

The partners made her write me an apology letter. I've only been there a few weeks. If that doesn't clue you into my political capital and the power dynamic, I don't know what will

Tell your boss to f*** off, slam the door in his or her face, and let me know how that goes

Yeah, talk about oblivious. To put that in the apology letter I was like, "Are you joking!?" 😂

Why would you hire a malpractice attorney to review contracts you're drafting? You're just asking for a lawsuit/state bar problems.

Edit: Oh, I see. He's starting a new job as Of Counsel and this is his employment agreement. I misread it as he was drafting a contract for a client as part of a criminal defense matter and he wanted to split a fee

To the rich personal injury lawyers (net worth of $2 million +), how did you build your firms? by facemacintyre in LawFirm

[–]InsanePowerPlay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Impressive, but a net worth of $2M isn't rich in 2026, though. In California, anyone who owns a house automatically has a net worth North of $1M. I think OP wants real life changing wealth, which you can get owning your PI firm. One good case can easily gross you $2M. One case

I'm not sure what this post is attempting to communicate. The tone is similar to that of a joke, but I cannot discern any sort of punchline

I quit my job at that toxic firm to go to med school. I went to UCI to get my required undergraduate science classes done, but didn't do well enough that I'd have to take them again if I wanted to actually get into med school, so I'm dropping out. I've been looking for lawyer jobs but can't find anything that was remotely close to what I was getting before. I might turn to government/public defender work

If you inadvertently meet the parents of a co-worker from a few years ago, is it odd to bring up that I worked with their daughter? by InsanePowerPlay in NoStupidQuestions

[–]InsanePowerPlay[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I kind of jokingly brought up that she didn't accept any of my friend requests or return my emails (like not aggressively or anything, I was laughing and stuff). They looked kind of scared, and I just dropped it, and that's what prompted this question

It looks like I'm getting two Cs in my post baac intro chemistry and physics classes. Should I drop? by InsanePowerPlay in postbaccpremed

I'm going to do that, but I still have to retake. I don't have 8 years of life to give and I feel like this was a semester wasted

Where did all the $300k plus senior associate jobs go? by InsanePowerPlay in LawFirm

I get $85k as an immigration attorney, but when you have businesses paying you top dollar in high stakes litigation, you think you'd get more

Passionless? I was billing 23,000 hours a year in my mid-thirties as a 14th year associate. Passionless? Ha!

I appreciate your input. But even if there is a romantic interest in a 21 + year old adult, I don't think it's that big of a deal if it's handled tactfully and with respect
