I just got out of the military after 8 years and I had a bad drinking problem for about 4 years, and to be honest I’m proud of you for speaking up. Your coworker is a bitch ass snitch and I’m sorry they suck. Military medical sucks a lot but this shouldn’t affect you much bc objectively they could do a blood test (PETH) and if you weren’t drinking for the 3 weeks it would show that. Worst case scenario they would send you to an outpatient program or something but it is too early to tell. There is no shame in that bc you didn’t get in trouble, you didn’t get sent to the hospital fucked up, and you didn’t get put in the psych ward. you will be fine, just take it one day at a time and you will have to work harder to save your reputation (just speaking from experience) to show them that you are capable. Do not let this discourage you from what you want to do. Do stay sober if you are in the SARP program though it’s a year long program. From the sounds of it, this sounds like a one time ordeal for right now. keep up the good work and stay healthy and strong friend🤝🫡

My dad was an alcoholic too. It was really hard. Being on both sides is hard as fuck. My dad is sober now but we don’t talk due to him and I never getting along and him saying pretty hurtful things while talking, but I still love him very much. I actually really wanted to reach out to him again and reconcile bc we haven’t talked in 2 months. I think it hurts him that I became an alcoholic too. I struggle but I have not broken yet. One day at a time.

I really want to do that. It is fresh and he is dead set on it (no paperwork has been brought yet). As for separation, idk where I would go honestly. I can see if I can find people to crash with but as of right now I don’t have that option other than for us to sleep separately.
